Has anyone found a source for a low profile 12 volt dual filament bulb ? No need for the debate over 6v vs. 12v - doing the socket conversion on a stock '24 - '27 cup style tail lamp which a 6v dual filament bulb IS available - just looking for the same in a 12v prior to disturbing a stock lamp socket.

Steve:
I have NO proof on this, but I've found several original appearing late style license plate brackets with late style socket, almost identical to the headlight style. My question is did Ford make these as a replacement after Model T production stopped. I understand your needs, and can't help you, but I'm using a Snyders cowlight cowl light bulb in mine which is 6Volt. For some reason they used staggered pins, so I have to file the off set pin down to accommodate there mistake! Perhaps they make a 12V version too?

Don’t think you’ll find an incandescent 1157 (tail and stop filaments) shorter to fit inside the housing and lens as they are all around 2” high.

But these LEDs would fit, much lower height and brighter and lower power use!

Much appreciate the input fellas !!! Didn't want to "punch out" a perfectly good original s.c. socket without sourcing a suitable 12v bulb to fit !

Steve: Snyders has a low profile 12 volt bulb, but is a staggered pin like I mentioned above. BUT, you have to find a late style Ford made license plate bracket like I mentioned above. You will need a two prong retractable contact plug to use it. I have one on my pickup, and you've seen it. Just looking at it, you can't tell the difference. If you want a plug I have one for you.
