Pulled out my hubs today as there was some oil on the axle nut and found the safety hub O ring was broke. Would someone know what size it is? I tried one I have and it was to thick. Thank you.

Lots of versions of these out there Will, so probably easiest to take the hub to a good auto store or hydraulic rebuild shop, they can fix you up. Lube them up good when carefully installing and get a couple spares while you are there, just in case you tear it on install. They are cheap. Good luck!

Measure the ID of the groove and its width, then go here:
https://www.parker.com/Literature/O-Rin ... 205700.pdf
O-ring measurement information and size listing starts on page 89. The other stuff is design information which you may skip.
The o-ring you want will begin with "2-" and the following 3 numbers will refer to the specific o-ring in the "2" range.

Try a 225 O-ring.

Or simply install it in a dry housing using a liberal coat of black RTV sealant. The bore of some axle housings is not kind to O rings.

Re; "The bore of some axle housings is not kind to O rings" That, is for sure! I run a hone through it a few times just to clean it up some, not to resize. Ford was not real careful when it came to the machining on some, if not most.

Thanks guys, I ended up measuring the old ring and and ordering the 225 as Dan mentioned. I'm going to run a hone as Mark mentioned just to clean it up. I think maybe some of the problem could had been was maybe I might of had just a little bit to much oil in the gear case.

Steve( RajoRacer ) I got your e mail but for some unknown reason I could not reply. I hope you find this, I got the rings from McMaster -Carr. The part number was 226 BUNA 70. I had to buy 100 of them so send me your mailing address and I will send you out a few. Will C
