NH Hot Idle

My car idles pretty good for the most part, but I notice that on hot idle, it will idle smoother if I open the dash adjustment a little past what does best for running on the road. That seems odd to me. To get the best slow idle when hot, I move the spark lever up part way. Opening the dash adjustment then gives a near perfect idle. Is this normal, or does it indicate a restricted idle passage or gasket leak?

Your fuel level is not correct. Fuel level needs to be raised to richen idle. When properly adjusted, the carb needs no tweeking, unless changing altitude. The float setting dimension is a starting point. Its a trial & error thing to get right.
The previous holly series has a top that is removed (3 & 2 screw)to visualize the proper fuel level in the jet bowl. Very easy to get right.
