Up to the bit of the restoration where we put the Spare tyre carrier in place, before I pull it all to bits to start the paint.
Do the kinks in the arms look right? The left has a much more pronounced kink than the right.
Got a fair bit of straightening up of the lighter flat steel.
The angle brace across the top measures 17 1/2 inches, which I gather is correct for 21 inch rims.
Opinions on the distortions ( if that's what they are) in the arms would be appreciated.

An easy one to answer, the kinks shouldn't be there at all. To give you an idea on the angle when things are all straight. Top of the spare is about 9" from the boot lid edge.

Tony, I spotted that Dunlop tyre tread and had to check where the post came from. They were last made in the 1960''s. I put a new old stock set on my 1912 Haigh's chocolate van in 1994 and they are still going strong. They'll probably see me out. If only we could buy such quality today.

Allan from down under, too.

It's ironic isn't it , that the good stuff we used to manufacture in Oz no longer exists and we somehow have come to accept that second rate throwaway is the norm.
