Yup, its Septermber. What have you done with your T?
I dove to Auburn ( the Indiana one) for a swapmeet or 3. Auburn is a car town and the old cars really turn out for an event. The only photos I took were at the ACD museum. About 20 Auburns were in the parking lot so I had to stop and see how the other half lives. A nice little boat tail ! I put about 80 miles on the 26 RPU on 4 gallons of gas.

Ended up at the Early Ford V8 Museum for their swapmeet.
My buddy Joe and I spent the entire day rambling around in the 26 on a sunny 75 degree day.

Looks like the other half lives quite nicely!! I'll never know!

As for me and my T in Sept., other than driving them, yesterday I installed a Fun Projects brake light switch on Clara, my '13 Touring. Man is it nice! Glad I finally found one. Now the '11 gets the other one, but I'll wait til I pull the engine next month to have the clutch replaced.

My '14 has been off the road for the past year because of a bent left axle shaft. I finally got it rebuilt, just in time for the Old Car Festival, using new shafts on both sides; all other parts, gears, differential cases, etc., are NOS except for the roller thrust washers, which were still in perfect shape after 16 years' use. That axle runs SWEET; no noise, smooth as silk, and no play anywhere. I have enough NOS parts left to do the same for my '20 non electric touring, if I live to get around to it.

Dallas, I thought I recognized that spare tire mount when we were at the Early V-8 swap meet about 3:00 but nobody seemed to know who it belonged to. Loved your truck by the way. Jim

Well today was even better. Got to dive the Big Green Truck today in the local parade. Getting to use both T's in one weekend is too much fun.

Rebuilt the rear end in the Fordor (new axles, thrust washers, axle seals, etc.) rebuilt both Holley NH carburetors using Scotts Congers high flow needle valves and cleaned and organized the shop!

Failed to mention, on the Fordor, installed the Ford accessory bumpers, shock absorbers , tail light and accessory tail light. Only missing the windshield wiper (have the wire wheels using them on another project). Enjoy

The primary purpose of me buying the TT that I have has always
been to use it for work and to explore forgotten byways and "turkey
tracks. Been getting a lot of that in, in spite of struggling with a
stumble at higher speeds, and the many attempts to fix it.

The wildfire smoke was really heavy on this trip out. We have been
in search of a junk pile that we pulled a C-cab out of 25 years ago,
whose location seems to be eluding our memory. A great run this
day of about 320 miles.

Another stab out into the backwaters, in search of the elusive junk
pile, we stumbled into this old wagon road that was bypassed by a
new County road in the 1940's.

A mighty fancy bit of rock masonry went into this ancient culvert,
where we stopped to look at something of interest.

How does a fellow follow that up Brent?

Maw hasn't even asked for a Toodle in the '18 since getting it home. Something's amiss.
She must realize that OT project is at the forefront? It is. Centric/myopic.

Turn on the gas at the carb, drop in the interior (exclusive cardboard seating), hit the starter, away thru the trees then to the open spaces to let go.

Wife and I went for a nice little ride a little while ago...beautiful evening.
When we got home, these 2 are in the back. I drove up about 30 yards from them and they stood there for a couple minutes.
I’m going to call the one on the left, Half a Buck.

The one on the right...quarter squash.

Dave, you guys had the same idea as me and my wife! Went for a nice ride together also this evening, in Clara the '13 this time with the top DOWN! (She normally wants it up..blech)....38 miles worth, also saw 2 deer about a mile from home. Sorry, no pics. Was a super evening here in Ohio wasn't it? No mugginess!

We got home just as my wife was getting chilly

Oddly, the wifeperson does occasionally WANT to go for a ride. Maybe
go out to dinner, plant nursery in the spring, ... that sort of thing. The
long runs are in search of dirt and dust and rust and physical discomfort,
that she'd prefer not ba a party to. She likes the pictures from our adventures,
but will leave the gritty parts to Widdo Bwudder and me.

Kelly and I drove the 26 RPU to a cookout. My buddy's dad told me about getting to ride in a Deusenburg yesterday in Auburn. I took him for a ride in the T today. He was just as excited today as yesterday. It was great to see his excitement and he had pleanty of questions. We had a fun day.

Loaded the car on the trailer today. Heading to Detroit for OCF tomorrow. Trying to find something that is open during the week to visit. One stop will be Edsel's house. I will be up in a northwest suburb until I can head to Dearborn.

We spent the weekend in Marion, Ohio on the All Ohio Model T Jamboree. This was my first tour and I have to say, I’m already planning for some more next year. I logged a personal best of 271 miles over 3 days. My Touring car performed beautifully the whole weekend. A front end wobble did show up a couple times, but nothing bad enough that kept me away from the routes. The experienced eyes there helped diagnose it pretty quickly. (Looks like I’m changing tie rod bushings this week.) I rolled in not knowing what to expect, but was quickly adopted by a great group that welcomed us with open arms and let us tag along with them for the weekend. T people are the best people. Thank you to all the organizers for putting together a great set of routes and stops.

Jim, I'm sure I don't have to tell you, while you have the tie rod apart, you may as well go through the whole steering system, especially the spindle bushings. That way you won't miss anything and subsequently miss more driving time!! The pitman arm ball connection is often overlooked, as well as where the arm mounts to the steering shaft. And the steering shaft bushing is yet another wear point that is often overlooked. I finally re-bushed my '25 Fordor steering bushing after re-working the entire steering system, and things just weren't quite right until I did that, even though the axle needed the "Stevens Fix", etc. Man, what a difference...it was the icing on the cake.

I am pleased but not surprised that you had a great time touring. It is quite addictive! And, a great way to find out the true condition of your car as well

I wimped out last month and bought the biggest window air-conditioner I could find for my shop. My barn is too big for the a/c to really cool it but I can keep the temp around 80 on the hottest days. The biggest improvement is cutting the humidity. Tall corn around here keeps the humidity high. I have spent many cool days and evenings working on my Runabout. The tedious jobs are no longer so. My wife even comes into the shop to cool off and see what I'm up to. She's anxious to get Tilly back on the road too. I keep saying that we need to get a T for her too.

Tim, the tie rod bushings were the only ones I didn’t replace when I rebuilt the front axle and steering because I thought they looked good. I’m also going to check that I didn’t set the outer wheel bearings a little too loose when I packed them last month.

Sounds good Jim. Ur right about the outer bearings. Not unusual to be a bit loose.

Drove about 100 miles round trip today. To a little town called Bloomsdale Mo on hwy 61. The weather was perfect, very little traffic. Believe it or not there is a bar there called the Dew Drop Inn. I was tempted to have a glass of ice cold Stag draft, but I didn't. It takes my full attention to safely drive a T.

Bloomsdale is only about 30 miles from me in Hillsboro, MO, I'll have to check it out sometime if I can make it through Festus without getting run over from behind.

Got tired of listening to the warped manifold exhaust leak. The new manifold is scheduled for delivery today. Copper gaskets are on BO at Langs so going to try the original style with copper rings.

I love towns that have an EDGE to them. If you can see open country from the center of town, that's perfect!

Repaired a tiny hole in my vaporizer carburetor float. Interesting thing was the hole was sufficiently large to let gas enter and fill up enough to sink it in the fuel bowl but no fuel would come out when removed, dried and shook; even after heating. Granted, it did take a couple of months to fill up.

Found the hole submerging the float in boiled water after waiting a minute, a tiny bubble started to form very slowly. It took about 2 minutes for it to get big enough to rise to the surface. I had expected to see a steady stream of tiny small bubbles. Cleaned the area, fluxed, soldered, sanded. Ready for retest.

That may be the world's most precision leak. I'd guess that, rather than liquid fuel, it could only suck in a small amount of vapor as the engine cooled down. Over time, it accumulated enough condensate to be a problem.

That is a very good possibility Pat since the hole was near the top surface of the float.

Hey Mark, driving through Festus wasn't bad. Maybe because it was a holiday, the traffic was very light. I also have one of those flashing red led bicycle lights on the back of my car. The cars stay noticeably farther back when I use it.

I gave some Model T rides at the local museum on Friday and generally enjoyed the beautiful weather. Blue skies, temps in the lower 70's, I hope this weather lasts for awhile.

My mechanic has been helping me rebuild Wilma's rear end.

Looks like great help Ken ! He will grow into that shop coat.

Took a few friends for a ride at OCF

Every September the local chapter of the EAA invites model T groups for a fly/drive in day. This is the first time my wife and I were able to make it. Had a great time. Good comraderie, good food, gave rides in Clarabelle, our '13, just an excellent day.

Ready to reinstall after repairing a leak.
