I'm very sad to say that a family crisis is forcing me to sell my beloved '24 Touring.

I'll be listing it in the classifieds shortly.

This really disturbs me. I wish there was something I could do to help. Almost every good antique car I have had (nearly a dozen over all the years!), I have had to sell because of family issues. Going on nearly ten years since I drove on a significant tour.
I truly hope your crisis isn't serious. Hoping things work out for you.

Cars come and go based on your current situation and your family's needs. We are only the temporary custodian of all our possessions. I have restored and sold many myself, some with a bit of sadness, as my family's circumstances dictated. The world is full of things, but not full of family, that takes precedence over all else. And you'll get back on your feet. Then you'll have a open parking space, and the search can begin again!!

I set up an account and from the posts above there's around $550.00. Does this show enough intrest to continue? LETS GIVE IT A TRY! Send checks to me and I will deposit them. I need your mailing address so I can return ALL funds in case this project fails. Don, we need to know, in general figures, a minimum amount needed in order for you to keep your "T" (Only if you want to). Make checks payable to: Harold Schedler for Don's T. THANKS!!

If you set your self up to receive. Dont think there is any cost.
We could friend & family send money to you very quickly & conveniently.
Cost to sender unless direct from a bank account.

Hi Hal,

I come from Canada, it is really complicated having USA check and a lot fees. If it is to hard for you with PayPal, I will send you $50 cash in envelope. Let us know. We are here to help Model T Ford brother.

We might not be able to hit that goal but perhaps we could raise enough to allow Don to look at another option for the rest other than selling his Model T. Maybe you should start a new thread with a title like "Help a friend."

A GoFundMe account should be set up, and the link posted on a variety of antique car forums. It would allow more people, including those not associated with this forum to donate. It allows so much exposure that it is quite easy to reach goals that are posted. Plus people can donate anonymously and with any amount they can afford.

President Regan said of the Russians, “Trust, but Verify!”

Is Don homeless and sleeping on a street in his Model T?

Houston has the largest city population in the state of Texas, and the fourth most populous in North America, with a population of over 2,000,000 for the 2020 census.

There are 46 Donald Allens living near Houston, Texas

Here are a few of them: Donald C Allen, Donald L Allen, C Donald Allen, Don C Allen, Donald Lee Allen, and a Carolyn Lea Allen.

So why don’t we know where Don lives in Houston and why doesn’t Don belong to the MTFCA Space City chapter?

If he does, no one knows him there and he didn’t pay his dues!

Why are we sending money to California for Don?

Perhaps someone could at least donate the dues for Don to join.

I will say this.., I have known “this” Don Allen for years, a trustworthy soul, a member of “our” MTFCA. So quit over “investigating” and help another member in need.

To do for or serve, help another person when the chips are down is no more than food for your soul! Kindness is lost or not?

My 3 1/2 cents worth,

Humbled Hank

Many thanks to all that are involved with helping Don. If my donation doesn't pan out to help Don, I hope it can help someone else. No need to return it to me. Dave

Hal Schedler is a very longtime member of the model T community, and has stepped up to help others in need on many occasions as well as using his place for local club activities many times over the years. Don Allen is a relative newcomer here, compared to some of us that have been active in this hobby for more than fifty years now. He has in lengthy threads shared his interest, and restoration of his beloved touring car. I have not been to Texas to meet him, yet I feel I know him from his many postings here. And I know from other people's postings that they have met him, and know him to be a good model T person. Don has been posting here for several years now, and I suspect is beyond reproach. Hal Schedler I know is one of the most decent men I have ever met.

Hi yall.

I'm sort of at a loss about all this. I started this thread to alert people to my classifieds posting. I've never accepted a penny of charity in my life. I'm usually the guy who gives to others. My intention was and is, to sell this car to raise the money I need. I honestly feel kind of squeemish about even letting this go forward.

Hal started this, and I'm grateful for his kindness. If I sell the car, Hal says he'll send your money back to you. Or maybe, with yall's blessing, he can donate it to the MTFCA museum or another charity. That won't be my call to make.

I'm dropping the price on the car now (it's on the classifieds), as I'll be needing the money pretty soon.

If you're in doubt about me, or the car, look at my build thread on this car. It goes back to the old forum in 2017. It really is an exceptional car. Here's a link.

viewtopic.php?t=28

I really don't know what to say. I'm having to eat humble pie.... not easy for me.

Thanks again for your kindness Hal. And to all of you who've sent money to Hal.....I'm speechless. I really am.

Hal, I'm not comfortable advising whether to keep it going or not.

I'm going to reduce the price on the car again.

Maybe one of yall could make me a good offer on it and in a couple years, when this crisis has passed, I'd be able to buy it back from you. That way, if I get hit by a train or something, you'd be able to sell it and make some money or hold on to it.

Mechanically, it needs nothing. Visually, it just needs the interior finished and the top installed. But I have all the fabric, top, (and new straps and pads) etc to get that done. No extra money will have to be spent on this car to finish it in the style that I've been so meticulous about trying to achieve.

This is not something I want posted on a public forum but I will relate it via email, if anyone would like to know what’s going on.

I’m about to reduce the price on the car again. At this point, just the completely worked over chassis/engine/trans/axles is worth the asking price.

FYI….I sold the trailer that I use to haul my T and I sold my sweet 66 F100. I think that, combined with what has been raised so far, will allow me to keep my T.

Thank you so very much. I am humbled beyond my capacity to properly express it.

This Model T is just a old car…a thing. But for me, it’s been therapy…much more than a car.

This family crisis is at its peak right now but will pass in another month or so. If another person finds themself in a similar situation in the future, I’ll be the first in line to help.

Several of y’all reached out to learn about the details and have been so kind and supportive. What a blessing. Thank you.
