‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
Where on the factory ‘25 Pickup beds would I find the Ford stamping in the metal?
I would think somewhere on the mounting brackets?
I have an early bed(without Ford script embossed on the tailgate)it’s very nice with about 65% original paint and the rest light to medium surface rust.
I would like to gently clean the area of stamping so I don’t obliterate it!
My goal is to replicate the very first Ford pickup so I’m looking for a ‘24-early ‘25 runabout that the front fenders are embossed running outside of the splash apron, straight rear fenders, and Kelsey demountable rims.

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
My understanding is the Beds without the Ford Embossing on the Tailgate were Sears and Robuck Catalogue Beds.. I have one on my '24 TT C Cab

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
The above are the factory photos dated Dec 12,1924 and there is another set dated Feb 28,1925 showing the same box lacking the Ford embossment on the tailgate. (Ref: Bruce McCalley’s book “Model T Ford”).
The 1925 boxes were only made for 4 months before the change over to ‘26-‘27, if I understand correctly by Bruce’s book, the very early boxes didn’t have the Ford script on the tailgate.
But by then Ford was stamping parts-so it should be on there somewhere.
Not being a manufacturer, Sears and Roebuck would have drop shipped or bulk purchased from an outside supplier.
(From Ford most likely)

You might want to check again other photos of those 'early' non-embossed tail gate pickups.
This view shows no Ford script emboss on the open tail gate. But does show the 1925 style rear window, the 1925 style 'commercial fender' so-called, that has wide embossed molding going under the splash shields.

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
On the very first photo posted, the rear mudguards are standard, curved in rear fenders. There is no need for straight Hack style fenders with the factory pick-up bed.
Or have I mis-interpreted your "straight fenders'" ?

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
I think in the Dec 12, 1924 photos Bruce’s text indicates the rear fenders are the standard 1924 runabout type.(which I call straight) But here is the page out of his “Model T Ford” book.
Maybe others here can clarify exactly what he means on the rear fenders-what are the differences he is noting here particularly when he states: “flare out from the running board” is he referring to the inner part of the fender that is facing the box?

That’s interesting Dan! I’ve never seen that photo, do you know the date it was taken?DanTreace wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 3:22 pmKevin

This shows proof then that the non embossed tailgate beds found their way on 1925 styling equipped cars.
Would it be safe to say the first 1-2 months (of 4 month’s) were the non embossed tailgate beds?

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
The '25 open car rear fender has a slight "flare out" where it meets the running board - it isn't a straight plain.

Larry Smith will know, he has a "better than Stynoski" 1925 pickup.

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
I supplied all of the factory photos to Bruce to use in his book. I could have used an early tailgate bed for my project, but decided to use a late bed for my project, because I wanted a roadster body with the tool compartment in back of the gas tank, and I also wanted an engine block with a 12,000,000 serial number. I basically patterned my pickup after Steve Coniffs. A good many parts on mine are NOS originals. Every nut and bolt on my car is genuine Ford, except a few carriage bolts used to mount the bed to the body. I restored every part on my truck myself with no help from anyone, except the day we mounted the bed onto the rear deck, and I had a half dozen guys over for the occasion. I used own an earlier pickup, but didn't need two, so, I sold it. It was a March 25 pickup.

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
I have a non script gate 25 pickup. I am fairly sure it came from factory on this car.
There are no body trim panels around the rear of car. This covered on a pickup where on a Roadster they show below the trunk.
I do not remember if early but I think it is. Has a wooden door support not the later metal support. No tool box under the seat.
Was sold new in Dallas Texas, has dealer plate on dash and on locking steering wheel.
Larry has seen my truck at Hershey. Dan

Re: ‘25 Pickup Bed Ford Stamping Question
Dan it would be great to see photos of your pickup and the details you mention.
Hopefully I can get photos of this box this weekend if the weather cooperates and post them up here.
