Saving the Upholstery

Does anybody else have difficulty getting in and out of their car. I have a 26 coupe and it's hard to get in or out without dragging my foot on the bottom front corner of the door. If afraid I'm going to wear the upholstery. I move the parking brake lever forward whenever I get in or out. The distance between the seat base and the door corner is only about 7" and I have small feet for a guy 7 1/2. Has anyone ever made a shield/cover for that corner? The same happens when I try to get in on the passenger side too.

I don't know of anything manufactured for the purpose. A brass or leather or vinyl scuff plate could be made up and installed. I have size 13 feet and it's difficult to get in and out of a 26 roadster. I wear soft shoes and contort myself as necessary to avoid damaging the door coverings and abusing the seat covering. I usually get in on the passenger side to avoid the brake lever. The 17" steering wheel comes very close to the door latch post, too. I have smooth vinyl upholstery. Cloth upholstery would be more difficult to preserve.
