I did it again…

I bought my first T a bit over 3 months ago. I just made a handshake deal a few hours ago on a second one. Both the title and engine number say it’s a ‘24.
Some say the ideal number of T’s is three…

It looks like the hinges say 1924 too. You're not too far off from Dearborn. Maybe you can drive a T to the OCF next year.

Three is the ideal number. You can drive one while you work on the second and use the third for spare parts. However, I got all three running. So now I do some work to help others, but only work on mine if they break down. I built a large garage which will fit 4 cars. The door is 10' high so the T's will drive right in even with the top up.

Yes, it does look like it. My first T had one. Never had a problem with it.

Be careful there is no 12 step program to get over old cars, once you get to 12 you just go to 13. Nice looking car, Have fun with it.

Only about 46 miles by expressway. I need to work out Model T-friendly routes to both Greenfield Village and the Piquette plant.

The lack of a crank was one of the first things I noticed about it. How big of a job is it to add one?

That’s just aliasing in the digital photograph caused by lowering the resolution for posting to the board. It actually looks pretty much like the radiator on my ‘25 express wagon.

The easiest way to add the crank would be to remove the radiator first. If the original pulley is the original type pressed steel, It can be done with difficulty with the radiator on. You first need to put in the ratchet which fits inside the front pulley and then put in the crank and line up the hole in the ratchet with the hole in the crank. There also is a spring which pushes the crank out when it is not being used.

ts not that tough if the pin is still in, holding the pulley in place as originally done. Its a bit tricky to R&R the crank ratchet cotter & pin. However, there is a real handy after market pin with a spring clip that makes it a breeze being reproduced.

Before you install the crank ratchet, grind about 3/16" off of the back of it so you don't have to remove the assembly to change the fan belt. The missing 3/16" allows the crank to be drawn farther back and away from the crankshaft pulley making it possible to get the belt out. The spring clip as previously mentioned is a big help too.

I joined Casual T’s immediately upon buying my express wagon. I’ve asked to have someone come take a look at it’s engine while I have its head off, but no luck so far.

Thanks for reaching out Jerry! My ‘24 Touring arrived this morning, and I’m picking up the head for my ‘25 Express Wagon from the machine shop later today. You’ll have lots to look over tomorrow.
