Gang,
For a parade, what are your thoughts on seating someone, (with the top down), on the raised back edge of the rear seat?

I'm kind of on the fence about it. It seem a bit unsafe to me.
I've got a line on a barbershop quartet that wants a ride.

What are your thoughts?

In this day of age and liabilities, I wouldn't.
4 adults on the rear of the body might make for a good wheelie though !!

For a barbershop quartet, I'd put two in the backseat and one on each running board.

I have a '14 Touring also and would not let anyone sit on the top of the back seat, even for a slow parade. If they fall off, you're in deep do do, and they might wreck your top also.

That part of the body isn't that strong anyhow. I'd be very cautious to do that, and the liability too.

I agree with the others. This is not the same as when you see someone sitting on the top of a late model convertible with a big trunk.

If there’s not enough room in the car I would consider the running board as the next best option. Would be uncomfortable for a long parade though. It’s not very wide.

If a barbershop quartet is going to entertain and sing in a parade, they should walk. Then they can saunter right up to the curb and serenade folks where they are standing and sitting.

Otherwise, one in the front seat, three in the back seat.

Depending on how wide they all are the 4 people should fit on the back seat without any issues (barber chair not included). Look at the many photos of Model T's with the top down you will see everyone is exposed from their shoulders up and very visible. I would suggest you meet with the group before you commit to driving them and put the top down and let them sit in it to see if it will work.

Meeting with them beforehand, with the options of sitting 4 across, or seating two, with two on the running boards it is!

I would consider fabricating a box that could be set into place to replace the rear seat cushion. That box could raise the seating area equal in height with the top of the rear arm rests that extends wide enough to accommodate all four so they are raised up to be better seen and the extended sides over so the arm rest as well an the rear seat base both support the musicians. If you decide to make a box PLEASE be sure to sand or cover all sharp edges so the seat backrest area does not get cut during its use.

I would think 4 guys in the back seat of a T will barely be able to breathe much less sing...and if they do, they might sound like they had been sucking helium

Frankly, in a survivor '14, I would not consider 4 in the back seat. That's 700+ lbs on the springs and frame of the seat. Not in any of my cars!

Halfway thru the parade stop and have them switch from running board to the seat and seat to running board.

Dom, The box idea may have some merit, I'll give it some thought.
Dean, There's a judges stand that we might be stopping in front of.
The plan is for them to sing a bit. I would think they could take different seats when finished.
