Tom, is there anything written on the back of the picture of the lady and kid with the gators? Also, what is on the hub of their car-- is that an accessory dress-up hubcap?

Yep. That cover caught my eye right off.

Accessory hub cover - I have a couple sets - brass on our '14 - spun aluminum on the Centerdoor.

And the second thing I noticed on that 'alligator' photo is that the wheel is a 30 X 3 1/2 clincher! It seems odd that a car with the cheaper option for wheel and tire would have a fancy after-market 'dress up' accessory on it. However, I also need to consider that the 1926 roadster appears to be a couple years old in the photo. It is possible the wheel could have been changed in those couple years? Sometimes when folks needed a tire for their car, they would opt for replacing a wheel to accept an available tire.

On that sixth picture, the one with the boy with a hose. I suppose he is helping wash the wheels off. It reminds me of one time when one of my sons, probably about 10 years old when it happened. He came in the house with a very proud look on his face and told his mom, "I put water in the truck" She said, "Thank you". I went about a block and the truck wouldn't run without the choke pulled out. It turned out that he'd filled up the gas tank with water!. I had to drain out all the oil, and the gas tank, clean the carburetor and blow out the fuel line and replace the fuel filter!

I think many people forget how frugal Americans used to be. It was
not that uncommon, even into the 60's for people to buy bottom-of-the-
-barrel model cars, and then load them up with select options that they
specifically wanted. My 58 Plymouth is a great example. Base model
Plaza sedan ... monotone paint, no radio, exterior mirrors, didn't even
get backup lights. But someone checked all the boxes for the biggest V-8
and 3-speed auto, PS, PB, and air conditioning ! Oh yeah, ... and the fancy
cloth interior.

Those accessory hub covers might have been the bling that the clincher
buyer thought was more important.

Back in the day, I saw a '59 ford Galaxie 500 convertible... with the 223 six and 3 on the tree. Horrors!

Not that Ford's most potent V-8 was much better, but I will bet
the passengers had to get out and push that pig off the line at stop
lights ! ..... nevermind hills !

My 66 Coronet convertible began life the same way .... all flash
and no guts, ... black on black, white interior, and a 273 2bbl/904
auto. It was gutless AND ate an ocean of gas ! A well-wrecked R/T
gave it a 440magnum and 4-speed, along with a raft of suspension
pieces. It still wants to get about 14mpg, but does so in a big hurry
and is a whole lot more fun to drive.

A car reget I still ache over was passing on a 57 DeSoto Firedome
convertible. Same story .... no options, ... in fact, it had deletes
to lower the cost ! But the top went down ! I guess someone wanted
that flash so bad, they chose to let everything else go to do it.

The middle car in the first photo is an R-C-H.

R-C-H was founded by Robert C. Hupp after he left Hupmobile.
