Model T OCD...obsessive collection disorder !
I am convinced my father had it bad. Just when I think I’ve found all of a certain parts.... I find a box full of more.
I bet I’m up to 50 spindles !!
Starters and boxes full of noses and brush holders
Dozens !! Same thing with generators and housings. 20-30 axle housings, it goes on.
How many of you have MTOCD ??

I have a lot of used parts. But sometimes I will buy something I need from one of the vendors to install on a car, and later I find a brand new one which I must have ordered earlier and set it aside in case I would need it later

Except for the spindles, he sounds like an ammature.

John, do you mean armature, ammeter or amateur? Two are T related.

OCD comes on slowly. I started picking up everything that was free or dirt cheap so I could build another one. As T guys moved on they often would bring me parts that cluttered their garage after the sold any good stuff. When I started going to swap meets I would buy the low priced parts or pay good money for ones better than what I had. All the time things are accumulating. Now I find I have a lot of junk I would like to get rid of. Very little is real good, And no locals are building or buying Ts. Guys often drop stuff off on the front porch on their way to the dump. Much of it isn't worth the shipping. Then there are the treasures that are too nice to part with. It is a vicious circle. However, I have built some cars from parts on hand and always seem to find the parts I need.
Yes, I've got it but don't spend much time worrying about it. Joy says it's good for me.

Shouldn't OCD really be OCO? It is my belief for most of us Disorder would be more correctly replaced with the term ORDER.

(if only so we can find the parts)

Recent examples where "OCD" objects are trying to reduse their collection of rusty iron have told me to keep my approach to only collect stuff that I may need. I do not need 10 of a part. I do not believe I'll need to build a speedster (I do not have space or money) etc etc.
i've also just seen children after a "OCD" object have passed away standing there with the challenge. I love my kids enough to try to avoid that.
The almost 100 old coils I've just obtained from other "OCD" objects is to kick of my "EU coil rebuilding" service

So I try to control my "OCD"

Hello, My name is Hank!
I hit my head, and have realized I have had my fun and time to clean out my barn. OCD cost more than alcohol!

Amateur. Armature would fit here also. Spell check told me I was wrong, but couldnt get me there.

I’m really proud of Frank, Hank and Dallas, unlike a couple of others that are absolutely in denial.
Norm is borderline, but I think he’s ready for the first step of admission.
John you must have misunderstood several boxes of starter parts, maybe, here’s a couple... Coil boxes ??
And screw jacks, not Ford even.....

It really tough when OCD is compounded by CRS and you can't find anything.

John, my spell checker, my wife Nancy, helped me with amateur. I still don't know if ammeter [amp meter] has a double m.

My brothers (and sister) recently turned me into American Pickers "Because of my Hoarding." Now I thought they were concerned about ME, but my oldest brother recently admitted to me that they are worried that if I croak, they will have to help my wife clean out my garages, and they don't want that job!
But, I do Like OCD better than "Hoarder."

Funny. One of the things I do is rebuild starter & generators time permitting.
Got cores & parts all over. I think I could match that pile of starters easily if I could find all the squirrel holes.
Other, general stuff, I have a tiny bit more control of the disorder. The goat trail thru the garage keeps narrowing.
Hello, John - I have a problem.

Is OCD different for people who collect Curved Dash Olds? There aren't as many of those around. I guess you could have CDO OCD?

My Dad always said he could keep the T running for another 50 years with his parts stash I believe it's more like 100 years . My son asked me what would I do if a power window switch went on the 1967 Ambassador. It is a one year only part , the answer was go up in the attic to the box marked AMC power window switches and motors. I have learned this from Dad and I will never pay Ebay prices because I have to, it will be because its something I can't live with out.
