If I may, this is the car. I would guess a 1914. The body in the background looks to have that windshield.
One of my favorite movies.
As for Buster and the coils, I created that for the "Model T Funnies and Memes" thread, February 20, 2017. It since has popped up several places on the net.

I once saw that movie with a friend at a convention of the Pierce Arrow Society. She commented that it was probably not the best movie to show that group.
In the shot where the girl is riding up the dirt road towards Cahuenga pass, I'm guessing that's La Brea Avenue. Of course you can't confirm that now with Street View. Too many buildings in the way. It's rather remarkable to see fields of crops in the midst of Hollywood.

The Blacksmith was 1 of 2 Buster Keaton silents played last Sunday at The Empire State Theater & Musical Instrument Museum. The only remaining originally-intact Wurlitzer, Style 235, in the Syracuse area, now installed in the Empire Theatre on the NYS Fairgrounds. George

Watching the old movies with the authentic piano accompaniment is an awesome treat. A fellow who played for the theaters back in the day lived in the family home when I was a youngster. Occasionally at night he would be playing those old tunes from memory as I walked past his place. It was so wonderful and something few ever got to hear in those later days.
It was truly beyond description and added to the magic of the silent film days with the old cars in them and in turn my love for the Model T.

Steve, The Piece Arrow in the movie was a gift of Keaton's father in law according to John Lauter the accompanist Keaton did not like the Pierce beat it up in the movie. George

For what it's worth I found the Photoshop cut and paste I did for the above image.
