"Bluebird is a 23-4 Duncan and Fraser roadster. Prior to this, the top of the cowl was straight under the windscreen. In 1925 the bottom windscreen frame was curved to match the cowl. If the tow car with the plane in tow is the same car, they have by then modified the windscreen.
A later method to launch gliders at Gawler aerodrome used a power winch and cable on the back of a V8 Ford truck. The cable was laid out back along the airstrip, with the truck at the other end. The launch was achieved by the winch hauling the glider aloft as the winch hauled in the cable.
