Wire wheel hubcap identification
Newbie here..
Lost one of my rear hubcaps on my 1915 T, but can’t find an replicate on our vendors websites
Can you help identify which wheel manufacturer I have so I can try to order one or find someone’s spare
Thanks much

Re: Wire wheel hubcap identification
The wheels are interesting... but have no idea what brand. I believe the cap to be home made based on the tooling marks and solid brass construction. An original would have been cast or stamped. A duplicate could be machined easily with basic mill and lathe skills

Re: Wire wheel hubcap identification
I have a set of similar wheels on a car. Attached pictures
It appears that they are supposed to have a latching mechanism!-

Re: Wire wheel hubcap identification
Yes similar but mine are screw-in using a centered roughly 3/4 inch threaded diameter stud
Thanks for the input

I have three original magazine ads; two for HAYES and one for HOUK. Examining them, they sure look like HAYES to me. I'd post a picture of the ad, but my scanner hasn't been cooperating.

the round one with a square for the wrench looks like a commercial sewer cap / plug

Re: Wire wheel hubcap identification
The Hayes hubcaps with which I am familiar have external threads that engage a corresponding internal thread in the hub. Those wheels do not look like any Hayes wheel I have seen. I am leaning towards those caps and the through bolt being some kind of home made adaption.

Re: Wire wheel hubcap identification
Agree with Allan, not Hayes wires.
That white wire wheel has unique spoke lacing, at the rim.
Each hub and drum spoke are laced in the same plane, in-line with each other.
The Hayes isn't spoked that way.
And the hub center on that white wire wheel is large, so perhaps a knock off cap was used to secure, making that wheel to use unique matching front and rear hubs.
Appears now modified, with extra holes to add lug nuts to a stock Ford rear hub, that is fitted with a Rocky Mountain type larger drum. The original holes look like a set of 3. Would be there for locating the original knock off or locking nut hubs?
Note the extra large 3 holes spaced on hub. And note lacing at the rim.
May be the wheel maker in question, has the spoke lace pattern, and has larger hub opening, and uses a special hub for fitting to a Ford. This may be the white wire wheel that has been modified to fit to a Ford hub?

The self locking nut is consistent with the ones I have.

Re: Wire wheel hubcap identification
Thank you gents for all of the feedback
I am inclined to believe the hubs are custom made and I will find someone with lathe etc to make me a new one
I will go ahead and start using locktite on all of my hubs as I also lost a much more complicated hub on my 28 Buick
