Look at the grass barn in the back drop?

Looks like it is/was a 1910 EMF.

Shift gate and brake handle says it is not a model T. EMF could be a possibility. Whatever it was, I do hope the occupants were thrown clear! That looks like a good example of why I would never want to put seat belts into an early open car!

Wayne-here's how I came up with EMF (above). The spark and throttle are pretty distinct, the splash aprons is behind the running board brackets, it looks like the running boards are cheese grater style, full elliptic rear springs, 6 bolt hubs front and rear, the bead around the hood side, and it looks like an aluminum water pipe running across the engine.

There's a good chance that wreck (definitely not a Ford) sat right there in that fence row until it completely rotted/rusted away. Perhaps enough remained for an enterprising "old car nut" to salvage and restore . . . ? I'd like to think so.

For those readers who don't follow "The Adventures of Kalamity Dick" in the off topics section, grass barns were common in the Tri-burg Basin in that era. Heinrich is currently researching their evolution.

To me the supposed grass barn is a hay rack sitting a short distance next to a barn. The barns top is just over the hay rack gives it an impression that the hay has a barn top. It looks that way because of the way the picture was taken.
As yes lots of old early cars besides T’s rusted away and deteriorated in fields and somewhere in the “back forty”. It doesn’t take long for that to happen.
I can remember seeing the remains of old cars riding the school bus in the 1950’s in some fields on the bus routes. There was a 24 Touring being slowly covered in a wash next to highway 77 here in central Texas among a few others.
I didn’t realize what it was until I was in my teens and by that time it was pretty much covered up.

I agree with Chris P that it looks like an EMF. This is a 1909. The RB brackets outside the splash aprons and the 4 rivet heads in the frame below the dash board look the same to me.

Yes Chris P, when you say EMF or almost anything else, I generally believe it! You are one of the few people I wish I was as good as at identifying early automobiles.
