While a recent elk hunting trip in Montana we stumbled on a junk pile.. hard for me to believe there are still piles like this around..[image][/image]

Evidently there are piles of old old stuff still around. It makes me think how it would look 10-20 years ago. It’s going fairly quick and for the most part gone in most places.

There’s a lot of stuff still out there, especially in Idaho and Montana. The smaller the piles and the more remote the better, because it makes scrapping not worth the effort. But to a motivated collector, there’s gold in them thar hills.

Yes, there's gold in them hills, but folks should remember that unless you hold the deed to the property, removing anything without permission would be theft.

Here in the East ( PA) those wooden wagon wood rot in 5 years.. I'm in the auction business and I could sell them wagon easily.. with my eyes shut and one hand tied behind my back..there is lots of scrap in the fence rows but mostly farm implements, not to many cars and trucks from the 20's

Hunting rust piles is what I do. The reason I own a TT truck
is two-fold .... to own and drive a junk of junk like this, AND
because when you approach junk pile owners to ask permission
to raid their stashes, they often appreciate the dedication and
allow me to do so.

Centennial Farms …

Farmers repurpose anything of value.
On old farms - usually out of public view
they stored old vehicles farm equipment
inplements - scrap wood and metal.

Many years ago I participated in an airshow in Charleston WVA. The airport is on a mountaintop and there are many forested valleys around it. While circling we noted many of the narrow ravines were filled with cars.... the older ones farthest up the cut. I've often thought that such places might be a treasure trove of old cars or parts.

The ghost town video is an old one. I am sure that nice Brush auto has been removed and the other items long cleaned up. I viewed this one 4 or 5 years ago.

I suspected that the Brush auto was "planted" to make the video more interesting.
