“The driver is Rowland Winn, who was a successful garage owner from Leeds. He became Lord Mayor of that city, and he had a garage in Middlesbrough on Linthorpe Road.
The photo was taken in July 1911, and he was in luck that day as he won his class at a speed of 44.5mph.”

I like this one but there is just the one photo. The exhaust looks like just 4 straight pipes? Can anyone tell me what they can figure from the photo what mods were done t a stock T besides removing the body and adding the single seat?

I see no coil box, distributor maybe ?
Gas tank is next to the engine.
I bet the exhaust fumes were right in the drivers face !!

That intake system appears to be a dual carburetor set up?

Thank You for sharing! Pretty Awesome!

The car in the background appears to be newer than 1911 and the motor does not seem to have an open valve chamber. I have been known to be wrong often. Frank

Those strip down chassis were an absolute rage of the day.
The Ford weight/horsepower ratio made them an instant race car!
Street plates, a horn and maybe a magneto right behind the radiator.
Seems he removed the rear body brackets and front fender supports.

Who knows what he had in the rear end?
Add of the times...

I love the stripped down look you can see just about everything on the car that is usually hidden.

This picture is fairly well known and I am sure has been posted here before but it is the same general idea and time period but LHD instead of RHD - Frank Kulick seated at the wheel

Joel, that photo of the Lord Mayor of Leeds was posted a while back with a lot of interesting detail. I'm sorry I can't find it. Rowland Winn was quite a guy ! Yes his racer ran straight pipes and was stripped for the track on delivery. Winn dealt Ford motor cars.

I saw the photo on several links. I tried to search both Leeds and Rowland on MTFCA forum with no results. It certainly is a great photo and I'm sure glad to see it.
