Wow, I am sad over this news. When I started re-building my 1899 Holsman back in the mid 1990’s Randall reached out to me and helped on the antiquated timer system…..

RV was a man of great faith, he has surly gone to glory. Please keep RV'S wife, daughter and family in your prayers, this is certainly a very difficult time for them. RV was one of the nicest people I've ever met. He was a great friend and a very talented man. A great loss to our hobby.

I met him several years ago at Bakersfield Spring Swap.
He was a good friend of KD.
I last saw him at KD’s home.
This is sad on many levels 😞

I am saddened to hear this. My prayers for his family now and in the future. I always loved visiting with him at Chickasha and picking his brain. A truly gifted person and a friend. The community of craftsmen we are lucky to have has diminished greatly in the past several years even more so now. It constantly reminds me of my mortality. He was a gentle soul and a man of faith. Rest my friend your work is done.

As I read this, I am taken aback with sadness. This news comes as a great shock since I attended a memorial just today for a long time Long Beach Model T Club member, the late Mr. Ken Olsen.
My wife was surprised that there weren't more members from the Long Beach Club in attendance. I had to remind her that most of the current members didn't know Ken.
I had the privilege of speaking with Randall at several Bakersfield Swap Meets over the years, and it was always a learning experience.
I believe that it was the late Stan Howe (RIP) that said that every time an older person passes away, it's like the county library burning to the ground.
Now, with the passing of Mr. Anderson, and the recent passing of Mr. Howe, it's starting to reach the magnitude of the Library of Congress going up in flames.
Rest in peace R. V.

I spoke to RV on the 31st., he told me what happened with his COVID Booster shot, that he had an infection in a knee. He was getting setup to have Knee Surgery, he was not ask at the time of the Booster if he had any infections, within hours of the shot it attacked the bad knee, "blown up" was RV's description. He sounded good on the phone but had extreme difficulty & pain. I had spoke with Jon on the 4th. about some hardware I will be sending him soon. RIP Randall, & Condolences to the Family. NO!
We have been pretty much cutoff from the world for nearly two weeks due to damage from the snow storm just after Christmas.

I am barely back on the net struggling with a tablet, internet connection is still out with no clue to when it might be restored, and the first thing I see here is this!

I am at a loss for words.

My deepest condolences to his close friends and family.

BLESSED is the word that comes to mine. Anyone who crossed paths with RV were blessed by this humble giant who tried to leave the world better than he found it. His wife, Maureen, and daughter, Rachel, were blessed to share a life with him. We in this hobby were blessed because he so willing shared his knowledge, experience and expertise with us. Heaven is a little brighter today with his warm smile.

Be at peace and rest in His loving arms my friend,

Dom

I am at a total loss for words! RV was such a wonderful and helpful person....always willing to assist in any way he could. It was always fun to see him at Chickasha, Bakersfield and at national tours, and I loved trading stories about Model T's with him. He was a true craftsman who wanted any parts he produced to be perfect and correct in every way. I know he is in a better place, but he will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family. So many knowledgeable people in the Model T world have left already and now RV. I met him in 2008 and bought a mag coil from him. Then ordered another 1 later on.
good work.A real loss to his family and to the hobby.
I think it was George Jones that sang a song, "who is going to fill their shoes?" As in who would replace country artist. Same question applies to our hobby.

To say that RV was one of the giants of the hobby is no exaggeration. The parts he produced were as true to the originals as he could make them and his knowledge seemed to know no limits. I met him briefly at Hershey to thank him for his help as I have several items I purchased from him on my car. My heartfelt condolences to his family and all the rest of you who mourn his loss.

Words fail me as he joins the Lord's team of mechanics. Just the day before he commented about getting back into the shop.

RV was a great guy, we traded stuff back and forth often. We emailed and spoke on the phone many times. I don't recall ever meeting him face to face, but then again I have a memory like a steel colander.

Condolences go to his wife and family. Rest in Peace. God's Model T will run like a precision instrument...

There are no words to adequately express my sorrow. Only recently, Randall went to great lengths to provide me with a set of re-built coils for my '09. He was indeed a true gentleman, who will be sadly missed by everyone whoever crossed hi path. He clearly enjoyed being of assistance to his fellow man.

Oh no! He was such a nice guy and an important person in the hobby. He was so happy to teach me and others new things about the Model T. This really stinks. I've been looking forward to seeing him at Chickasha this year. He will be missed big time!

I’m sorry I’ve never had the pleasure of making RV’s acquaintance but greatly enjoyed and learned much from his postings on this Forum. May he rest in God’s graces.
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people 🤪

I Met RV at Hershey a few years ago, when I dropped off a KW Coil Box to him for rebuilding.
What a gentleman and so knowledgable.
His passing is a major loss to our hobby.
My most sincere condolences to his family.
May he rest in peace.

The measure of a man is in the lives he touched.
And obvious by these heartfelt posts - he touched a great deal of people and in an absolutely positive way.

Having only met him a couple times. He was certainly a gentleman, gracious and loved being helpful.
And it is my loss that I didn’t get to talk to him more and get to know him better.

Sincere sympathy to his family.

I’m Randy’s wife, Maureen. All of these messages are a comfort to the family. Randy’s life was like a shooting star. He amazed us in many ways. He has left a huge hole that can’t ever be filled. To see his special qualities recognized here is honoring his memory. I’m sorry for all of you, having lost Randy’s friendship, knowledge & just his presence.

I’ll keep the memories close and the sight & sound of a Model-t running will always be sweet to me.

None of you will ever know the data that Randall had in his head, or other places. He had Ford factory drawings of more parts than you can ever imagine. He also has a cousin that is in the nut and bolt business. They took examples of original Ford bolts and nuts, and remade them for our needs.
We need to know who this cousin is, so we can continue to carry on this part of RV'S legacy. I hope too that Brent Mize or another electrical minded member will carry on his coil and mag coil operation. I was with him at Luray two years ago, when we loaded almost 100 field coils into his truck for rebuilding. At the moment, there is no one doing this.

Thank you for posting the obituary that detailed some of his many interests. Such a full life that touched and influenced so many and, he was so young! There is a quote that is appropriate here: “He who is remembered, never dies”. RV was only 60 and way too young to go. I’m sure his last thought, after his wife and family was, “but I’m not done yet…”. RIPRV. Jim Patrick

Jim, That Randy was taken far too soon is what I’ll never get over. Randy tried so hard to get better. Out of respect to him I’ll just confirm this. We prayed about his recovery and he wanted to get back to living so very very much. Randy had more persistence than most so he tried very hard to get to his workbench in spite of great difficulty.

Maureen, I will never forget our dinner together during the cross country tour in 2009. Randy often came to our farm for our fall swap meet and always had pie for us at Hershey. Great memories. Let us know if Sheri or I can help you with keeping the cars running. Much love to you both.

Thank you Mark and Sherri. When we came to your swap meet, Randy was doing one of his favorite things. I’m very glad I have great memories. The ‘14 sure brought him joy and your expert work on it still makes it a great car. I hope to see the ‘23 Roadster brought to life someday. Randy was proud of his hard work and we had a lot of fun in it.

I would like to add my name to the long list of persons wishing condolences to the Anderson Family. R V has also helped out me several times including building a set of coils and coil box for my 1909. He was a special person that will not be forgotten.

RIP R.V.
