I just got a nice set of Violet Ray Lenses for the Roadster. I know the visor was originally black, gloss or flat ? I’m thinking flat.

My original nos pair was close to a satin or semi-gloss. I used satin rustoleumn on another set I have on my tractor conversion. It is really close looking from the back. I can not tell any difference from the front looking thru the glass.

Refurbished a single spare for my pair of Violet Rays.

The originals were a semigloss black, on the inside of the visor . But that black was then second coated with white paint too. Reason is the white backing allows for more illumination from the bulb and reflector. The visor casts the beam down some to prevent light into on coming drivers eyes.

Thanks Dan! The white top coat makes sense.

The green visor is the Macbeth brand. The lens is clear, the Violet Ray glass is a blue tint.
