Read the story on the guy. Ford wanted to run him outta town. 1917 Lewis Gentry

Maybe they should have hired him. Ford once experimented with a X-8 engine. It was deemed impractical for a road going car. A number of aircraft had "inverted" engines, with the crankshaft on top and the cylinders underneath.

Now this is sexy. Centerfold worthy. Anybody want to repop these? I would be on top of the list.

There have been a few discussions about that engine here over the years. It seems like one of our vendors has it or one like it in his showroom.
This has further information that might be interesting.

Ed comments: It was a Gentry V8, made circa 1917.

It also was featured in the MTFCA "Vintage Ford" many years ago.
It's fun to see again and many new comers haven't seen it.
Thanks
Rich

You can acquire my T 5 main block patterns. They could be a good starting point. Certainly a bunch of the cores could be utilized. NO I am not going to take the project on!

Going with βfork and bladeβ connecting rods could be advantageous as then the cylinders line up exactly. Just a thought. This could also potentially allow the use of a stock 4 cylinder T camshaft. Just some thoughts
