It’s against the law to be on the road here today. EVERY thing is closed. 10-12” so far and still coming heavy. Next time you want to complain about the post office, my hero was here today picking up t parts for some of you. Here is his trail.

You sure picked a good year to stay north. :P
I still have to look more for the steering part you need.

The mail in our area is hit and miss. Patty was called by her post office in Geneva and told her they would not be picking up her packages today. My mail carrier drives up the street past my place and then she turns around and comes down my side. So, I met my driver at the end of my drifted driveway to hand her some outgoing packages and she said she was stuck for over an hour and is only delivering first class and important packages today.

Perhaps they need:

We had about two inches a couple Saturdays ago, in North Carolina. The post office did not deliver mail. they did deliver the next day though. Snow doesn't hang around to long here.

Brr! I have lived in Southern Ca. all my life of 86 years. I can't even imagine living in a place where it can be that cold for months each year. Only times I have been in those parts were in summer of early fall. Here if we want to play in the snow, we just go to the local mountains. We do get snow a few days a year in the mountains, mostly over 6,000' altitude. Here we can go to the ocean and lay in the sun or go to the mountains play in the snow the same day, but since our children have grown, we just look at the snow capped mountains from a distance. I thought it was unusually cold this morning when I got up it was just 32 degrees F. Almost cold enough to have a little frost, but by noon it was warm outside.

Tim, we can overnight our extra skis to you and Connie. Since mail service is so good I’m sure you will get them before all that beautiful snow melts!

Norman, its 5 degrees here this morning. 19 for a high today. We wont see 32 degrees for a couple weeks. Thats ok, keeps from tracking mud around. Our mail didnt come yesterday. I struggled with my 4x4 pickup to get to my Amish neighbor to get milk. County plow opened the road last evening so mail will run today.

A good additional 12” here....plow truck knocked my mailbox down last night. Post is rotten so I packed snow around it for now.
I have not seen snow this deep since I lived here.
Maybe the early 90s since ones like this.

At least Dave remembers the snow and cold from 30 years ago! It's almost like a real winter here.

Tim Morsher, I can not believe you did not get the snow blower out before your favorite mail man showed up? Making him walk down that long lane just to get to your place, He probably went home with frozen feet after going through all that snow! Just Joshing you!!

I was surprised to see my hero come that day, it was in the worst of the blizzard. Joe, I haven’t touched a snow removal device in years. I DO, however , have a gold plated neighbor. He removes snow like a surgeon.
An aside, the mail trucks didn’t get through yesterday, so our hero’s got a light day. They really deserve it. I am waiting on a new carbide mill cutter, so hope he makes it today, though. Here is my neighbor, Denis.

Our roses are starting to leaf out. Hopefully we won't get any more frost and spring will be off to a good start. Here we have 3 seasons. Spring, Summer, and Fall. If we have a winter, it might last one day, and that has only happened about 3 times in the 48 years we have lived here. Those times we got about one inch of snow and same afternoon it would be all gone. Now that we have gotten older and all the children and grandchildren have grown up, we don't go to the mountains in the winter, so I gave away my tire chains.

Fellow Model T and Model A friend, Steve King, went to a vintage snowmobile show with his finished Supersnowbird and cutter. They are a blast to drive. My green one is a work in progress. Doors and pickup bed are the next step.

Looks like you got some serious snow in Indiana and Ohio. That horse and Amish buggy handle that plow better then my Supersnowbird would. It is just about all the A can do to turn my tracks.

In 2008, we got 8 feet in December. More than ever recorded,
by a long shot. We had collapsing roofs and a general mess all
over the area. The following December we got ten feet ! But
people were better prepared. In 2010-11 we got no snow at all !
Go figure. My turbo snowblower keeps the close neighbors clear
when big dumps come.

Ask anyone. It's "climate change" Changing very rapidly from Global Warming to Ice age in a few years. When you get as old as I am, you realize it is and always has been changing! I don't believe it is a man made thing. Volcanoes and large fires can contribute. Norm

I agree Norm, when we look back at this time it will all be part of the average.
