IT LIVES...

17 years ago I decided that if ever I started down the track of building/restoring another old car, it'd be a Speedster.
8 or 9 years ago, my wife and I did start down that path. All I had was a Stromberg OF and an idea. I bought bits n pieces from all over the world, some from folk who frequent this forum. Anyway, my version of Frankenstein's Monster is now registered on the road and IT LIVES. I hope you like it.
Cheers,
Rob

Why, Do you want a good deal on it John ?
No, sorry, I'm not going. Several of my friends are going though, none of which are T-ers.

But seriously, it needs some fiddling with, sorting out and several runs before I can gain enough confidence to take her on a trip that long. Oh...and some accessory brakes for the trip back down the Clyde.

Enjoy Goulburn,
Rob

An absolute credit to you Rob. A delightful looking speedster. There is still hope for me yet. I have have had several failed speedster build attempts and have owned items such as Rajo's, wire wheels and Warfords! Work, family and funds get it the way but one day, that perfect spare block I have stashed away will eventually turn into a speedster. Might have made a start again as I am hoping to get some wire wheels over the Easter break. Are you taking a T to the National Rally at Maryborough? Would love to see the speedster there.

Hats Off Rob!

Sure does look sweet. See what happens with one part, pixie dust, and a full moon. Be careful, they breed. LOL!

All the Best,

Beautiful car Rob. Thanks again for the pictures of your speedster seats. I’ve gone a different direction, but have made progress on mine.

Cheers,

Ron

There is not much in life that is more satisfying than having positive comments from people with the same interests as you.......from your peers.
So to you who have made those comments, "Thank You"....they are very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Rob

Wow that is very nice and sharp!
Neat color combination. I have to ask if the wheels are 26-27 T wire or 28-29 A wire wheels.
I’m thinking 28-29A. But could be wrong!

You're right John... early Model "A" wheels. They were just a fraction of the price of T wires here and much easier to find too. (Thanks to Allan Bennett)
I used adapters made by your fellow Texan, John Stoltz, of Model T Ranch.
Thanks for the compliments.
Cheers,
Rob

That's a shame you won't be at Goulburn. I'm curious to find out how your Ricardo Waukesha head is going. I have one but have not tried it out yet.

Oh! THAT radiator! I remember! Duey_C

For those of you wondering about the Radiator comments.....its a long story but I'll try to be concise with my explanation.
I bought the Radiator through Chaffins who sent it to me (at my request) through USPS, because I had never had any problems with the service.
USPS decided to sub-contract the shipment through FedEx.
About 10 days later the FedEx guy showed up with the right coinsignment number, but the wrong package. The package he tried to unload on me was addressed to someone in Manly NSW. I live in Moruya NSW.
I reported it missing to FedEx who, after a few more days, started an investigation that went on for a couple of months with NO sign of the Radiator.
A few days after FedEx had decided to pay-up, I noticed a blip on their tracking system saying that my consignment number was in a warehouse about 5 hours away. I reported it to FedEx who recommenced their investigations and double checked my shipping address and my full name etc and a few days later the Radiator showed up.
It turns out that because they had mixed up the consignments, it was easier for them just to return it to sender. But it never got back to Chaffins either. A FedEx guy in LA saw that it had an Australian address, and re-shipped it. It arrived about 3 months late, from memory.
So the radiator you see on this car is very widely travelled, having been across the Pacific 3 times.
Now you know,
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks David.
Good to hear from you.
Have you still got that super fast, worked over Center door? I'd reckon it'd be a whole lot faster than this so called "Speedster", even with its "go faster" bits.

To everyone else who answered with all the kind words. "Thank You".
I have no mechanical qualifications at all. My trade is (pre digital) photography and I consider myself something of a dinosaur. So you might now be able to understand just how much your compliments are very much appreciated.
Thanks again.

Cheers,
Rob

Yep, I'm still roaring around the country roads in southern Wisconsin! The back roads here are paved and have little or no traffic - except for occasional farm implement! So, I really enjoy driving around the area.

I decided to redo the paint/upholstery after having all the mechanicals redone. Below is a link on my the latest progress. Today I began compounding the fenders. I got a little too aggressive and sanded through to primer in a couple of spots!! No drama. With lacquer I can easily touch these spots up and resume compounding the next day!

Looks like you are having fun down in NSW. Have a VB on me!!!

Dave

Rob, I am in trouble! I showed Nancy your photos, and she wants the wheels back. You can leave the car attached she said. Well done. She looks a treat.
