Parking Pawl striped it's tooth this week, went to check Snyder's Model T because they will not let you order something not in Inventory. It takes a telephone call to verify if something is available. Some vendors have parts "in the back" that they don't list in their catalogs or online.

You may already know but Lang’s has lots of good used or NOS parts. They advertise to call and ask. Or they use to.
If you have a good eye and can weld you can build up a worn pawl end. Also Chaffins may have one.
Bobs use to have a supply of older NOS small parts but he may have sold most of his parts that he had.

If not available through the regular vendors, here is one from an "alternate" vendor (Ebay). I have no connection to the seller, I only remember seeing it listed.

The handbrake quadrant usually wears out faster than the handbrake pawl.

Yes the quadrant will wear faster if you drag the handle back and hear the “ratcheting sound” of the pawl clicking on the quadrant teeth. Pushing on the thumb lever on the handle will slow the wear.

You can look at T frames that have the quadrant really worn and others not so much. The drivers of years ago had different handbrake techniques I guess!

Our 1926 touring needed the quadrant and pawl replaced, i thought. I bought both and went to a workshop for a couple of our clubs here in Florida, and they thought it was easier to bolt the quadrant to the frame after grinding off the rivets (only 2 on the 26) and welding up the worn pawl (as we did not have the rivet to attach it to the lever). The weld was ground down to match the teeth on the quadrant. The quadrant was bolted to the frame and works great. It was required to take the pipe across under the car to each side break rod to be removed and reinstalled. Also. time to oil the pivot point of the pipe thru the frame, that had never been oiled i think. Good for another 90 years. Thank you. Steve, Charley and Phil.

I got a new pawl this week from them plus a quadrant "for future needs".

The part number for t he pawl is T-3458
Not sure who all you tried but S&J or even Birhaven/Texas T/Fun Projects (they may have one, its something they don't make I think)

They are selling off the old inventory from the Ford Barn. there will more listings coming

I've mulled your astute observation some and can only shake my head at the fact that it is a sad situation when a vendor is more likely to have something in stock if they do NOT make it themself.

When I heard the other day that Berg radiators were no longer available, my first thought was "B-------- must have bought them out".

Give a call to your vendors today Monday since most of those are closed on Sunday

Before the vendors had RHD panels, I rebuilt originals with weld and oil hardened them.
I'ts not hard to do.

Do you happen to have any spare right hand drive pawls? Mine is not much good and I'd like to replace it.
