Who's going to Marietta?

My friends Brian Dowell, Gene Butler and myself are making the long drive from Michigan to Marietta and I got to wondering how many others from this forum were planning to go? I'll be the big guy in the white Ford hat so if you see me, please say hi! It'd be nice to put a face on the many of you that have helped me with info and advice as I stumbled my way into this wonderful hobby.

Unfortunately, some of us are attending the Winter Tour in Florida that starts simultaneously. I’d love to have gone but I guess I’ll get my ‘fix’ at Chickasha in a few weeks.

Y’all have as much fun as you can and tell Brian I said “Hey!”

I will be there along with Doc Shanabrook and Rick Horning, Doc already said he will sleep on the long ride down that early in the morning.

I've never been there, so I had to look it up. For the others who want to know:

Will do Brent - for me it's a seven hour drive without stops so we're leaving Friday and staying at the Holiday Inn in Marietta overnight. That will also give us a chance to stop at Stutzman's and drop off some wheels on the way down.

I accept that we are just a little bit crazy but it's been a long winter with few chances to socialize so we're excited to "get out of Dodge...." Who knows, I may buy a $2 wrench and make the whole trip worthwhile......

Don't forget to support the MTFCI Youth Foundation with a ticket purchase for a complete Model T engine valued at $10,000 while you're at the Marietta swap meet. I believe you can request them Via U.S. Mail if you can't attend, I know I did.

I have no connection with the ticket sale, just want to support the youth .

Got my tickets - they're only selling 2200. $25 each or five for $100. All the money goes towards the MTFCI support of youth programs.

We will be there selling engine raffle tickets. More than half have been sold with five months to go before the drawing in July. The winner is going to get a heck of an engine, thanks to the generosity of many suppliers. Some of those suppliers will be at the swap meet. Please thank them for their donations! This project would not have happened without them!

Oops! Maybe I remembered wrong about the tickets....selling 2022 I think...at least that's what Brian Dowell told me when I bought some. Decent odds, great cause, incredible engine.... certainly worth a shot.

FWIW - we've lost a lot of Model T friends of late....anything to encourage younger generations to continue our hobby is worthy of support in my opinion.

Tim, and others,

No trip to Southern Ohio is complete without a small side trip to visit the Big Muskie Bucket!

I worked on the big Muskee back in the early 70's before they decommissioned it. I'm sending the boys down,Robby, Kenny, and Uncle to eat pie and sell High compression heads, High volume outside oil lines and stuff.

Big Muskie was probably built downtown Milwaukee or at the BE plant in South Milwaukee.

Perhaps the parts were made in Milwaukee, but the big Muskie was built on site, and it took 3 years to assemble it. The article I read about it also stated that it took 300 train cars to haul all the parts.
