The lower end of this engine appears to be equipped with either a Roof or a Green five-main bearing crankshaft, and a set of bronze main bearing supports for #2 and #3 mains. All of the mains have been fitted with bronze caps with steel re-enforcing plates. Some of the other pieces in the photo appear to be DOHC Fronty parts and a clutch hub and cut-down flywheel for a 1928 Ford multiple-disc clutch conversion used on some racing engines post-1927.

The photo is by Mecom Auctions that sold parts from collector David V. Uihlein's collection at the 2011 Miller Race meet at the Milwaukee Mile race track.

Interesting how the extra main saddles used the two adjacent tappet bores to hold the saddle into the block.

Dan, until just recently when I stumbled upon some photos of two of these bronze bulkheads out of an engine it was a mystery about how they attached, because of Roof's sideways view of the assembly in the Company's ads hid the inner details. This photo shows us all of those details.

Thank you for the kind words. I don’t view it as a competition. Really I’m just trying to inspire others with what can be done today!
