I have been working on getting the pedal trim to fit properly. Before I do something that I will regret, I thought I ask for some help Thanks

Leave a little gap so the ends don't touch and rattle....found that out the hard way.

you are about to discover that your pedals are likely bent every way but where you want them to be. Note that the pedal spacing on the trim is not equal! Study the pedals to see which direction left/right that the pedal supports move each pedal through its travel and align the pedals to the slots such that full travel can be had without binding along the side of the trim.

It may take more time and tweeking than you expect.

Here’s something that will help. Make sure your pedals aren’t bent like Scott C. says.
Then get you some stiff cardboard to make some templates for the floor boards. You can get the spacing pretty close by doing this.
You can use as many pieces of cardboard as you want to get it right! Then transpose them to the wood floorboards. Hope this help!

Good idea using cardboard. A lot cheaper to make mistakes on than plywood.

You didn't say the year of your car! The holes in your trim pieces are for semi-tubular rivets used to hold the draft deflector on the later model cars, and are available from Langs.
