That is the place they often brake. By making it so rigid there is it likely to crack at either end of the fix?

I will bet that the guy who did that job saw more early '09 "T"s manufactured thusly, than any dozen of us put together. And I'll bet that isn't the only frame he did this to, either.

Don, I appreciate your comment because my father-in-law was a bridge builder and anything he built was pretty much here to stay. Bob
