Wood spoke question

Just when things were going so well....... Today I started cleaning up my front wheels in preparation for painting and varnishing. They are Hayes wheels with wood spokes and steel felloes. The spokes are tight, the wood in good condition with one exception. One of the spokes has a hairline crack that starts somewhere under the hub flange and extends about 2/3rds of the way up the side of the spoke, maybe extending to the other side of the spoke where there is another hairline crack but not as long. The crack is too thin to force anything in it. What are my options?

This shows what the wheel looked like before I took it off.

Tim, how about a photo of the offending spoke? The wheels on my RPU has some very small cracks in them. I guess I have never been concerened as they never get bigger and all are tight.

Duh! I messed up in getting a photo. It'll probably be Friday before I can post them. I'm gone tomorrow getting kingpin bushings installed and right now the spokes are masked off so I can paint the hub and felloe of the wheel in question. Great planning, eh?
