Schrader Universal Tire Pressure Gauge

Post by mbowen » Thu May 12, 2022 5:02 pm

I was digging around in a somewhat hidden compartment under the seat and to the left of the gas tank on the ‘25 express wagon I bought last summer and found what I first thought was a large caliber shell casing but turned out to be a Schrader Universal Tire Pressure Gauge. I tried it out on a bicycle tire I measured at 56 psi with a trusted gauge and got a reading in the low 40s. I couldn’t get it to seal on the bicycle’s tire stem but at least it works! Is the seal around the measuring port replaceable? The seal retainer appears to be threaded, thus removable, but I didn’t want to take it out without more information.

I’m told they’re Model A era. They come with a lot of inscriptions - like local auto parts houses, dealerships, etc and a few with Ford script. Surely there’s guys collecting them. I have 2-3 and one with the original leather pouch
😁🇺🇦 Good find !!
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people 🤪

How cool is that to find it under the seat?

I have one with Firestone logo but still made by Schrader. It came with it's own leather case. I unscrewed it and nothing came flying out of it. I hadn't thought to unscrew it until you mentioned it.
Thanks
Rich
When did I do that?
