hand crank coil tester

Here are some pics of my hcct. It was given to
Me in pieces by a fellow club member who
Scored a factory made one. I redid some of the
Frame and re wound 3 of the coils using masking
Tape. It is made by the plans that are on the
Board. It works great now I need a meter.

The type of meter that is used on the HCCT is an Iron Vane type, AC Ammeter.
Rectifier type AC Ammeters won't read correctly.
I have tested a couple of the low cost Iron Vane Ammeters from China.
I found them to be inaccurate.

Simpson is a great meter.
This on is 0-5 Amps AC.
The 1.3 Amp point is less than 1/4 of the scales deflection.
It can be difficult to see the 1.2 - 1.4 Range on this meter.
The perfect HCCT meter is 0-2 Amps AC.

Philp, I have an original Weston form a Ford HCCT that I know nothing about. The scale plate is out of it but the movement is free. I understand there is a member that restores and calibrates them. you can PM me if you like.

I picked up a spare flywheel and magneto for our '21 Touring some time back. I plan to build a frame and make a coil tester. I have not yet bought the meter to complete it.
