Wagon Works Depot Hack Plans
Does anyone here know if Wagon Works still exist and do they sell Depot Hack plans?
I believe the company was once called Hudson Wagon Works but changed owners and shortened it to Wagon Works.
I have a good friend who wants to build a depot hack and was looking at mine for ideas.
A set of plans would help him considerably.
I checked through some old MTFCA posts but am not sure of Wagon Works status today.
Are there any other plans available today?
Thank you,
Harry Lillo

Re: Wagon Works Depot Hack Plans
I bought the York #803 Suburban Body Depot Hack Plans a number of years ago. The complete set, and I will never use them. Hudson Wagon Works of Bridgewater, Iowa. They also use to sell the complete Hardware set.
Your friend is welcome to have them. I do not know what I paid for them. What if I send them to you and the two of you look them over and send me a check. I will let you determine what they are worth.
Looks to me like they went out of business. You can try to call them. 515-964-5085. Ankeny, Iowa. Jay and Pat Cramer. My paperwork is from 2008.

Re: Wagon Works Depot Hack Plans
I have a 1924 T with a very nice original York #803 Suburban Body but did not know the maker of it. I was fortunate to meet Dale Hudson who founded the Wagon Works earlier at Hershey in 1987. He had a large poster filled with detailed photos of a 803 body hung up in his space. I asked him if he knew the manufacturer of it and he filled me in on all the details. He was a really nice man and was very surprised and said that he only knew of a couple of them that had survived. It cost $266 new plus shipping and installation which was quite a bit more than a T chassis did at the time. He sent the note above with the poster of the 803 after he returned from Hershey.

Re: Wagon Works Depot Hack Plans
Harry,
I too purchased as set of plans as well as the iron kit from Dale. I built the body for a '24 chassis. I found a couple of small errors in the plans and made a couple of changes for ease of building. Dowling the subrails instead of half lapping, and then I made the curved front panels differently. All in all no one can see the changes.
I have only seen one other original York body, it is in the Pioneer Museum in Minden Nebraska.
Good luck, hope that helps,
Kevin

Re: Wagon Works Depot Hack Plans
I used their plans for my pickup body but made my own iron work and modified the design to have "arm rest" on the seat.
