I am installing door window glass in my 27 Coupe. I can't seem to attach the bottom metal channel to the glass (on the door glass ) with out it falling off after moving the window up and down a couple times. --- does anyone now a way to attach the metal channel, and stop this from happening ... I have tried the window setting tape, it is not a perfect fix. thanks for any help. ...Joe Gallagher joeg48@hotmail.com

What exactly are you using as your glass setting tape and what is the thickness of it?
Also, is your glass new and what is it's thickness?
Finallly, are your channels repops or originals?

In answer to your questions.
1. the setting tape is : 1/16 thick glass bedding
I am also using Langs #8020 door glass to metal channel rubber seal

2. re- pop bottom metal channel for window glass - #8020ch (Langs)

3. New glass 3/16th thick

Bruce Brakke is restoring what was an all original 1927 Coupe and is doing a great job. Several weeks ago, he posted a photo showing a cross section of his original door window glass. As you can see, there is a rubber piece of rubber moulding that, when the window is rolled up, prevents rain from flowing down into the window. This rubber moulding would provide enough tightness to keep the glass in the channel. Jim Patrick

I got the rubber for the bottom window channel from Lang's.
Can you post pictures of your installed felt window channels?

I buy 3M urethane windshield sealer at the local Napa for about $20.00 for a caulking tube size. It will glue the window in forever! Bad part is that the tube is hard to re seal so you need to use as much as you can all the same time. This is the heavy black goo that modern windshields are installed with, very strong. I used some last week to glue steel rub strips to the sides of new push mowers that have plastic decks, to protect them from concrete curbs. Red can brake cleaner will clean it up if used while it is still not cured.

Joe, What did you finally do to get the glass set into metal channel? I will soon be installing the door glass in my 1927 coupe, so what you did will help me.

You said you are using repop metal channels. It has been reported that the part that the regulator arm slides on is too short. I purchased repops but decided to use my originals due that reported problem. Did you find that to be a problem?

Bruce. I’m glad to hear you have decided to use the original parts. They don’t make reproductions that fit as well as the originals. Wherever possible, I always used the original parts on my restoration. It always felt good to keep as many parts together as possible that traveled through time together through all of the historical events of the past 95 years. Jim Patrick

The attached photos show how the metal channel is fitted to the bottom of my 1927 coupe door glass. The original is also shown.

The bedding material is rubber to which oil is added to get it to swell once in place.

The seal piece is A-79500.
