I am 90 years old today. I was born in New Prague, Minnesota on this date in 1932. My father was the School Superintendent in Montgomery, where we lived. In 1932 we moved to Minneapolis and my father joined the local school system. When I was 6 he bought be a small two wheeled bike, which I still have. At the age of 14 I bought my 1910 Model T Touring, which I still have. I served ion the USArmy 1950-53 as a company clerk. Ih ave three earned degrees from the University of Minnesota in business and education. I am a former high school principal. I and my wife have owned and operated a retail store in Excelsior, Mn for 50 years at 239 Water St. You can view the store on google maps. We live in our home on Stubbs Bay of Lake Minnetonka. I also own a 1931 Model A roadster and a 1931 wide bed pickup.

Happy Birthday Darel. Now I know why I’ve always considered you a gentleman and scholar. You are an asset to the hobby, and I suspect everyone you’ve had contact with in your 90 years say the same, regardless of their walk of life.

Stay active. Treat every day as an adventure. Attended club activities, local events, church if a member and eat out at least once a week. Help with home cooking, house and yard work and more. Keep current with local, national and world affairs. Show your appreciate for those around you.

Happy Birthday Darel. You give me hope that I may do as well at your age when I get there. I often mention seeing your ads in Hemmings many years ago and tickled that I can visit with you on the forum.

Happy birthday. You have been in Model T's for longer than I. I wanted one in the 1950's when I first learned to drive, but my parents thought a Model A would be a better fit for me. I did have about 9 Model A's over the years, but finally got a Model T in 1989. I still have that one but have acquired 2 more since then.
You are great to have had your car for so many years. You must have been many places and did much work on the T's over the years.
I am catching up with you, but you have always been 4 years ahead of me. Keep running and you might finish the race before I do!

Happy birthday Mr Leipold! Although we've never met I've always followed you on this site. Andy Loso was a very good friend of mine and always spoke highly you! In the model T world I believe you have become somewhat legendary! I'm sure you never planned on that but that's how it works out for the rest of us. Thanks for everything you have done and contributed and I will make sure we meet soon. Store hours?

Thank you all. I appreciate the comments. It was 100 degrees yesterday on my birthday. We are having an open house this Sunday, the 26th, in honor of my 90th. i will be cooler, in the upper 70s. At the Rotary meeting yesterday I was honored. At each meeting, members give a dollar or two to the education fund. A friend gave $90 in honor of my birthday. I plan on having the 1910 on display on Sunday. Mark Cameron rebuilt the 6 rivet rear end and two peice drive shaft for me. We will install it this summer.

I need the 5 ball carb checked over. I will contact Kim D to find out if he still works on them. The engine has the original pan, head and trans cover. The block was rebuilt 6o year ago and is in great shape. I replaced the internal transmission and feild coil with letter parts, using some NOS items. The JB model 15 head lights are perfect. I use 3 their E&J as side lights, but have the original J Brown model 60s. The JB taillight is an unmarked one.

90? so your T is a few years older than you!

Our store is at 239 Water St, Excelsior MN 55331 952 474 5880. We are here Monday thru Saturday from around 10:3o a.m. to 6 pm. We leave early on Friday (2 p.m.) and are not here on Sunday. You can google map us.

Thank you every one. This Sunday we having an open house at our home in Orono, Mn to celebrate my 90 years. I am last of the 4 siblings, but tjere will be other close family members there as wells automobile friends.
