Adding an external trunk to a Touring
I've searched the best I could, but couldn't find anything.
I'd like to add an external trunk - wicker/fabric/leather to my 1919 Touring. I'm sure I've seen some with them with a mounting bracket to the frame. Does anyone have photos of this? Any idea what I start looking for in terms of bracketry or even trunks? I see some suited to As but frustratingly nothing for the T.
Thanks in advance!

My 1911 was fitted with this:
Here is one I found on T-bay.
With a luggage rack like this you could attach a vintage trunk or a wicker basket.

T-bay is what Model T folk call e-bay.
When I do a search I use ebay motors, then use the minus sign, to weed out stuff such as -matchbox, -bank, -ertl, etc.
Happy hunting.

Re: Adding an external trunk to a Touring
Andrew, I sent you an email concerning a friend that fabricated a platform for a trunk. I don’t have a great picture of it that I can find but this will give you an idea of the look. Contact Vech and he may be able to help you out. Best John

The 1915 in the above photo is my car. My wife, who was surfing the web, found, somewhere, a 1915 Automobile accessory catalog, and there was an advertisement, for a folding luggage rack, for a Ford. The ad showed a simple drawing of the folding rack, not a photo. My wife showed it to me, and I decided to make one.
The first step, was to find a suitable trunk, so I could make the rack to fit the trunk. The base, and back, is made out of 1/2 steel box tubing, with slats of red oak wood that has been varnished. The upright sides were made out of 1/2 round steel stock, that I heated and bent around a piece of large steel pipe, and I ran them forward under the car, and bolted them after welding a mounting plate on the rods, to the channel of the frame that the rear spring mounts in. I spaced the wood slats in such a way, that should we choose to remove the trunk, the slats of the base, and the back, go between each other, so the rack folds up in a neat, narrow configuration. I used cable clamps, to attach to the rear body arms that the folding roof is strapped to.
Give me a call, if you like, I can text you photos to your cell phone, close up details, and further explain what I did concerning how the rack attachments. I did NOT damage nor change, ANYTHING on the car, even the lower spring channel of the frame had existing holes that I used. So, If some future owner, (after I'm in the ground) wanted to remove the rack, he will find the car has not been harmed in any way.
It is a very strong, solid affair.
some photos.
