Any suggestions on removing bearing races from front hubs?

This is not my favorite task. I have beaten these out with a long chisel and hammer in the past to remove the ball bearing style, but thought I'd ask for suggestions now. Maybe a little heat on the race or the hub might help? Thanks.

Run a weld bead on the bearing surface of the race and they will fall right out when it cools.

A variation on the welding suggestion would be to weld a small piece of scrap metal across the cup and whack it out from the back with a drift and BFH if any persuasion is needed.

Once you have them out, make the internal divots which allow the use of a drift to drive out the later tapered bearing cups. Steve Jelf shows how to do this in previous posts.

All the hubs have a recess inside to allow a long punch to fit through to tap the race out.

David, the early hubs with ball bearings do not have the divots. Hence Steve's post about how to make them in the earlier hubs.

One must tread lightly here. There is not a lot of hub available to grind notches in.
The castings are quite thin.

I am a little confused, the parts books from 09 - 23 list the same parts numbers for the hub assembly and for the inner and outer races. I have a variety of early hubs some with narrow threads and some with wider threads, some have the notch only in the inner hub and some with the notch in both inner and outer, but the part numbers are all the same. Could this be a variance in the manufacturing?
