The Old Girl got High !!

A few things I have been wanting to do, got done today....
Took a little finagling, but got my 24 on my lift today. Changed the rear end lube, pretty thick stuff for a Ruckstell. I sucked it out slowly with a suction gun and filled it with 85W140, I think I'll run it a while and change it again.
Found some "manhole" oil cups for the rear shackles.
Found the left kingpin bushings are worn. (Next on the to do list).
Best thing is...I dropped the engine cover and found I didn't get #4 rod tight enough, rattle was more noticeable. I took the shims out and she sounds like a new one again !!
And I do have magnets on my flywheel...
No drippy in the face on the lift, (a little on my shirt lol). Got one tire on and will mount the other later today I hope.

Nice work.
That's the first time I've seen a T on a lift. I like the lift arm extensions. I guess there'd be no way to lift a T without them.

Thanks Don, I never saw one airborne either.
Just enough extensions and length of the arms to catch the frame. Made taking the shims out of #4 a 15 minute job !!

Dave, your arm extensions certainly do the job. When I had to an in-car rod replacement on Henrietta, a fellow invited me to do it on his workshop hoist. Rather than engineer extensions I used two 10' lengths of 4x4 hardwood, onto which I nailed a pair of 'keepers' at one end. We simply extended the hoist arms as far as they would go, put the hardwood beams on the pads, lined the keepers up with the back axle and sent her up. The car was resting on the axles, rather than on the frame. I have kept theses bearers aside for later use.

Allan, if you can see, there's 2 extensions on each corner. The short ones are about 3" and came with the used lift, 1 was MIA.
I had a machinist buddy make another and 4 double size. I have had a couple trucks that I needed everything to clear the running boards.
I've had numerous 4X4 4 door, dualie diesels on it, the T was like lifting a golf cart.

dave, because the hoist I used is in another workshop. I needed something in a hurry. By lifting on the axles I had no clearance worries, so the timbers were an ideal temporary fix which I can use again any time without causing any inconvenience. You should see the extensions the workshop owner made to lift his Austin 7's! They'd support an F350.

I bought a "regular drive on" lift(4 post) years ago. Best investment ever. I considered the two-post with the arms, but for whatever reason I wasn't comfortable having the car hanging in the air with all the suspension hanging down like that. I had some oil cups missing on the rear shackles, with the weight off and springs relaxed, the oil holes were wide open and straight up !!

Dave,
Yours is the first for me on a two post!
I have a drive on four post with air jacks and it really saves your back and keeps from getting scalped by the T Indians.
