There are a few Model T Clubs about.

There are a few Model T parts supplies about.

There are some manufacturers of custom copper gaskets in North America.

There are a couple Model T Fords being driven and maintained.

So, why can't the few clubs that cater to the Model T, approach the custom gasket manufactures and request x number of "rare" high priced gaskets for the club store, sell a few of the "rare" gaskets to the suppliers, and see if that can bring the price down from extremely high to reasonable?

A friend asked me to ask for them.

I talked to Dave at Chaffin's Garage and he said, he thinks in a few months, they will be able to get the copper gaskets again. I have 2 on back order. Anyway, I think there are enough Model T's still running and being driven and since the gaskets must be replaced every time the head is off, that they will be available again.

I see the main question in George's post to be bringing the copper gasket cost down to a "reasonable price"?
From many accounts they will be available, but at what cost?
The average selling price today is in the $ 150 range.
Hopefully the new price will be udder $100 (that is double the price before the shortage).
I guess the price will be what it is.......

Why do you have to replace the gasket every time? There was a time when you had to clean your pistons regularly. I know they did not install a new gasket every time. I have taken mine off and replaced it before with no ill effects. The silicone gasket yes, copper gasket no.

The people that took the head off regularly to do valves or clean carbon, more than likely used grease, maybe silver paint, maybe nothing but not copper coat, so the gasket was not as glued to both head and block like with copper coat.

I've never had my head gaskets stick so tight that the gasket was ruined. I used a heavy coat of Copper Coat on the gasket and follow the directions which says to let it DRY before installation. I used to just hang up the old ones on a nail but now will start to reuse them like I did before.
