Reading Ford Times of the period the owner is encouraged to use only Ford Replacement parts.
So you take your Dash apart only to discover that when you helped your mate, you find his dash was not Ford Motor Company, but C.D. CO. and yours was a Briggs and Stratton

I've never seen a Ford script ignition switch assembly - stamped script panel, yes - I understand there were multiple suppliers to keep up with demand. Ammeters were also from outside suppliers.

Ford outsourced ignition switches along with different body makers over the years. If you went to a Ford dealership for a new switch assembly you got one of the outsourced products. If I’m not mistaken there were about 5 companies that made ignition switches for a T from 09-27. It may have more than 5. Others would know for sure.
Carburetors such as Holley and Kingston comes to mind also. They weren’t Ford.

Ford couldn't service the combination light and ignition dash panel switches either at the branches. Dealer told to replace. Some of the makers were Briggs and Stratton, Caskey- Dupree, Clum, and others.

Several parts of a Model T were made by other companies — tires, wheels, spark plugs, speedometers, carburetors, bearings, bodies — and of course all those Dodge Brothers front axles and other chassis parts.

They didn't make the ammeters either - Hoyt, Tiffany (not that one), Nagel, Liberty, Sterling and likely many others
Then there are the locks & keys......
The reason why the Model T was successful is because it was "assembled" in such volumes by parts made many different manufacturers besides Ford. The same is true for
everything made today, not even your Apple product, or Amazon purchase
