Carb for a RAJO

An older friend has a speedster with a RAJO. Currently has a Model A carb on it. It blubbers real bad at an idle, but runs great above that. He is wondering what the correct carb was used with a RAJO.

I had a BB rajo with a 97. It coughed & sputtered badly until hot, then not so bad. I think it needed a heat pipe. I put a smaller carb(81?) & she still coughs a little @ start up, but not when hot. Runs great.
I have run a stromberg BXOV2. (down draft) Great carb. Adjustable main jet & accelerator pump. Very responsive when properly tuned.
I have seen dozens of different carbs used. I dont see why an A or B carb wouldnt work well. Maybe a carb setting/tune issue.
What was used originally, I leave for others who know.

You need to tell folks WHAT Rajo head it is to know which carb is correct.

Guess I need to find out what head it is. I'm not sure he knows.

To get you started, a RAJO "B" head would take a Zenith U6, a "C" head would take a Zenith ST4B and an "A" head would take a Stromberg OX-2 (I am pretty sure...and it might have come with an adapter(?))

Hi Mark and Scott,
I’ve known fellas who were fond of Carter BB-1 with the adjustable main jet. My understanding is rebuild kits are available, they start and idle well, and they have nice accelerator pump on them.
