Hello all
Quick question for my peers. How do I take this switch apart ? Seems its been glued by the po.
He installed a toggle switch for ignition and I would like to put a proper key switch back in the car.
Thank you

Maybe some heat or a solvent will dissolve that glue? Otherwise, new switch?

Normally you would pry the center contact hub upward around the sides little by little. I use an L shaped pick to pry them up. I don''t believe that the anything is glued to anything but the lock tumbler may have been glued back together. In nay case not much sticks to the pressed fiber ring. The original locks were made from something resembling pot metal and would break easily. If you need to replace the tumbler with a new one you do not need to remove the 2 rivets or the steel bracket surrounding the lock.
There are several different variations of the internal parts. The first variation has to do with the backing plate being a pin type or clip type. The the way the switch handle is held in place. One way requires the rivets to be removed they other does not because the handle has tabs that are bent over the square ring. You may have the easiest one to repair. The only issue is the new repro tumblers need a bit of fitting to work.
