Forum gathering at OCF
Was a time ever set for the Saturday get-together? I hope it will be well before or after Pass in Review. My ability to be in two places simultaneously is severely limited.

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
Hi Steve, I don't think a time has been set, but I agree it should be either before or after the pass in review. I think after the pass in review is best.

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
The OCF is the Old Car Festival at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. It's always held on the first weekend after Labor Day.
The OCF is for all makes of cars 1932 and older. Participating in the pass in review is optional, but most with decent running cars participate in it. We usually take our '14 Touring and the earliest cars go first & we usually go through it at 2:30 or 3 pm on Saturday. Other cars can be earlier or later. The Forum gathering at the OCF is for those of us on this Forum so that we can meet each other and put a name to a face, etc. The pass in review begins at 1 pm on Saturday and goes from the earliest cars through 1918 cars. On Saturday, the pass in review gets done by about 4 to 5 pm, depending on how many cars participate. On Sunday it also begins at 1 pm and begins with 1919 cars.
That's why I prefer that the Forum gathering be after the pass in review on Saturday, so that you don't have 2 activities going on at the same time. The gaslight parade begins at about 7:30 pm, about dusk, on Saturday. That's when we light up our lights and drive around Greenfield Village. That goes on until 9pm, then they blow off fireworks and that ends the program for the day and everyone has to leave the grounds.
I hope this helps you understand the Forum gathering at the OCF.

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
I have been neglecting my duties as organizer. Sorry. What about Saturday at 4 in the Activities Field (where the car games are played) at the far end opposite the cluster of buildings? I think everyone’s judging is done by then.

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
Hi Marty, What you posted above sounds like a good place, but will the pass in review be over by then for all the cars through 1918 so there aren't any time conflicts?
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
How about 4:30? That would leave time to go to chow at 5:00 and be back in time for driving by lights at sundown.

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
Marty, same place as last time? Will the fire truck be there so others will be able to find the spot?
I would say 5. Easier to remember than 430.

The cars drive past an announcer usually starting with the earliest, and the announcer fills in historic facts, figures and interesting info on them for the benefit of the visitors sitting in the bleachers.

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
Its the Pass-in-Review parades. To move or march by (some figure of importance or authority) in order to be inspected. At OCF just a parade of cars past on-lookers
https://www.thehenryford.org/documents/ ... f8513001_0
"... The ongoing Pass-in-Review parade is a car lover’s dream, as electric, steam and gas-powered engines are constantly in motion around you. Watch drivers engage in games of skill, see a Model T assembled in just minutes, or just sit back and enjoy our experts sharing "car talks" while historic vehicles cruise."
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Peter, we will miss our friends north of the border. I have great friends that we usually only see at OCF.

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
To Marty, 5 is ok with me, but we have to allow time for a bite to eat before the gaslight parade too.
BYW, Marty, will you have the firetruck there also so that we can find you easily?
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Forum gathering at OCF
Ok, I’m calling it: 5 o’clock on the Activities Field at the opposite end of the field from the buildings. In other words, as you face the railroad tracks, we will be on your right. That should leave you enough time to grab dinner and I think most Pass in Review will be over. Okay?

That is good that you will have the green truck there. Then we will know which side of the red truck to meet on.
