My hood former has a hole for the rod from radiator to cowl. Above the hole is another smaller hole about 3/8 " . It is exposed to weather. What does it do?
Thanks,

Campbell,
I would bet the lower one is for the rod that is the brace from the firewall to the radiator.
The top hole is the one that the pivot rod goes thru for the hood.

Let me know if you have questions. I will try and snap a shot from my '14.

Steve

The hood former does have a hole for the hood pivot rod. The radiator support rod goes through the wood dash and is fastened with a nut. Yes the hole in the hood former would be exposed to the weather even with the hood pivot rod inserted. They were a size for size fit when new so that minimal water would get in. As they wore the hole became enlarged and a greater amount of water would enter and consequently would damage the veneer skin over the wood dash. Water also migrated in between the hood former and the cowl some designs has a seal and some did not.
