Has anyone come up with a source for TW Timer brushes? I have found brushes that meet the correct design and size but are made of carbon and are too soft. The material of the original is copper carbon. Here's an illustration:

Starter motor brushes are probably close to the correct material. If you could locate a large enough starter brush, it might be possible to make a timer brush out of it. McMaster Carr might have a similar material available.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that brush is a modern brush used in starters, generators and used in other applications. Don’t think that was made specially for that timer brush but of course what do I know. I could be wrong.

Thank you Ed. I've seen this and it's exactly what is needed however it is too short by 1/2".

you could not make up the difference with a 1/4 x 1/2 metal dowel inserted inside the rotor?

Many older cars had a very similar spring loaded brush located under the steering wheel to make contact between the horn button on the steering wheel and the horn wire. Fords of the 50s and 60s used them, among others.

Scott, What I'm contemplating is connecting two of the shorter contacts together using a copper or brass "sleeve" and epoxy or maybe solder. Wish me luck.

Chris, that's the trouble with cyberspace, once it's out there, it's floating around for ever, TW dose not exist anymore as Tony past away. Trying to find the right brushes has been fruitless so far.

Appropriate people are working to make available both brushes for TW Timers.
Be patient.

Does anybody have a early type brush holder for the square type brush that would sell to me. I was able to find a few square brushes but I have a later type round holder in my TW timer. Send me a email via MTFC. Thanks Kevin
