The previous owner said the engine , transmission, and rear axle were rebuilt. I took the head off today and this is how it looks. This is great. Art

Included with this project was an unrestored rear door marked 1911. The molding around it is different than thow the molding is formed on the doors installed on the car. What is that about?

Art, there were more than one body manufacturer, so the difference may be down to different manufacturing techniques. I am sure someone will be able to help.

The nailed-on bead is typical of Beaudette bodies built up until around body number B-21XXX.
My Beaudette body, B-18928, has the nailed-on bead.
I know of a Beaudette body B-21070 that has the rolled-in bead like on your car.
Look on the bottom of the door for a body number of your original door and of the door on your car.
Cars with a body manufactured by Hayes have the rolled-in bead.
Ray Wells (aka The Craftsman) reproduces bodies (including 1911) and I believe he uses the rolled-in bead on his construction.

Is the body on the car an original or a Ray Wells body?

John, I have been sorting and studying. The previous owner found and shipped the missing pitman arm, BUT, the USPS lost it somewhere in California. I have four coils being rebuilt. When the weather gets warmer I will move it to my polebarn where I will have more room. I want to take the body back off the frame to tidy up a few items. Art
