I recently acquired this Kingston brass carb. It’s similar to the Kingston 6 ball but has an extra air valve on the back like the 1911 Holley. Anyone have one of these or have any info on it?

It looks as though the extra air valve was added, and not part of the original casting. You can see the file marks from shaping and the variation in the color of the brass on the added air valve. The bowl is also different from the 6 ball, with the detachable choke, and appears to be fabricated as a one off. It feels like maybe it was an experimental version or a very good creation by somebody, for something, for some reason. I’ve seen a 1911 6 ball, but never anything like the one you have. Very interesting.

We have one just like it on our 12 Torpedo. It’s serial number 145xxx and it came out of the Barney Pollard collection years ago. I restored it runs great. I’m have always wondered why the Kingston carb for 12 isn’t really listed anywhere…..

So it is a 1912 variation? Why is there no real info on it readily available? Why the extra nut and ball and why was it omitted? What about the detachable choke? Interesting.

I’ll post a picture of it tomorrow. Cecil Church had one with out the nut and a ball under it and he called it Canadian and then ours showed up on the car, I had Russ Potter restore it and he called it a 7 ball and said he had never seen one exactly like your example and mine. I since have seen one other one so that would make 4 known.

If you can post that picture here in the forum please feel free to do so. I couldn’t figure it out for some reason or another.
