Have you bought Blockleys?
My questions are for anybody in the USA who has bought 30 x 3 and/or 30 x 3½ Blockley tyres.
1 Did you have to pay anything in addition to the cost of the tires + shipping? If so, what and how much?
2 How expensive was shipping?

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
Here’s a link to a year old thread where I, and others, discuss our import frustrations and end costs related to Blockley purchases. Import duties $78, never got a use tax bill

I had a set of 21” tires and tubes quoted a few months ago, shipping seems higher, but these tires are heavier…

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
Evening, all,
To answer Steve’s questions:
Yes, I bought 5 each 30 x 3 1/2 tires and tubes from Blockley in August 2020 (had forgotten it was that long ago)
1. Only additional charge was $59.41 in duty paid
2. Shipping was £150 (I want to recall that they gave me a £50 break on the shipping)
The 5 tires were £745 and the 5 tubes were £145 total. Payment was handled via DHL thru Paypal. There were no other charges and no paperwork other than payment to DHL. Tires and tubes were delivered in about 10 days from placing order.
I can’t find my hard copy or I could tell you what the total was in $US.
Looking forward to getting the car rolling on them in just a few more weeks. Very high quality tires and tubes. Easy to mount and they look great. Other work has kept the car off the road.
Hope this helps some. Understand dollar is stronger against pound right now but guessing shipping is running more so recent purchase may differ.

Not sure a how the shipping & purchase was done but doing it as you have with DHL is the way to go.CDooREDW wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 9:51 pmEvening, all,

But roughly
5 tires were £745
5 tubes were £145
Shipping was £150
Total £1040 x $1.3054 = $1,357.62 + $59.41 = $1,414.03
On August 08, 2020 the Official GBP to USD Exchange Rate:
Close: 1 GBP = 1.3054 USD
Best: 1 GBP = 1.3051 USD
Worst: 1 GBP = 1.3051 USD
Current rate 1 GBP = 1.1234 USD (£1040 x $1.1234 = $1,168.34) almost $200 less but Today's shipping may be more
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
In my humble opinion the Blockley Tyres and Tubes are the best currently available. Freight and Government duties are out of our control. Tyres and Tubes are a number one safety item and we are lucky to have an alternative to the other rubbish that leak air and wear out very fast. Go for gold and order them and a spare of each. You won’t be disappointed!

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
Thanks to Brexit and Mr Putin, if Blockleys are priced in £ Sterling, you should be able to buy them for a very good dollar price now.

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
I just checked and a pound sterling was going for $1.08 at the current moment but pay pal says $1.15. I just ordered two tires and tubes and the shipping was 134 pounds sterling, or about $154 at pay pal’s rate. The bottom line is $587.28 to my door.

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
Two days from order to shipping (UPS), 3 days from the UK to Michigan, including 1 day delay due to paving roads in my neighborhood. I’ve ordered things from Ohio that took longer.

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
At least 6 cars sported new Blockleys on our national tour. They look a bit oversize like T drivers, when they are inflated. The diamond tread pattern is really nice. There were even two sets of their 4.40 x 21" straight sided tyres on late model T's. Hooray! At least we can buy quality products.

The exchange rate was $1.31 when I bought my model T and Paige inner tubes earlier this year. I am not complaining. I am glad I bought them when I did and hope to buy some tires in a couple years.
Really nice to see a quality product again for a change!

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
This morning the exchange rate is £1 = $1.10. That makes a Blockley 30 x 3½ tyre cost $15 less than a Wards Riverside. A couple of weeks ago the difference was less than a dollar.

Re: Have you bought Blockleys?
I just got four Blockleys and four tubes yesterday. One of my sons got them for me as an unexpected birthday gift. Some gift!
He ordered them in late August and we have had to go through hoops to get them for some unknown reason. They got to Newark NJ fairly quickly but then were held until we had to sign papers for customs first then pay some other import fees which took days and many follow ups to accomplish. The icing on the cake was that they couldn’t seem to find our delivery address and were going to send them back! Finally we straightened out the kinks and they await installation.
My century old touring came with little used tires but as it had languished in a shed for a couple of decades on flat tires, those tires had visible cracks that may have affected the safety of the tires. Pity, as they were practically brand new.
Now, however, I will have safe rubber on the car. Thanks Sam for the gift and UPS follow ups.
