what should the valve lash be ?

Look up the setting for an old Chev 6. That would probably do it.

I set mine at 0.010” intake and 0.012” exhaust.

Going to pull some thing out of the Chevrolet manual. Because the heads are about the same as far as cooling and loss oil system, it says .013 and to do it at running temperature/hot. As things expand when they get hot, you don't want to set cold or too tight. Now if you want to use the settings suggested by Henry, I would start at .013 cold, bring the engine up to temperature then reset to his suggested.

A friend install a higher lift cam in his and has broke many rocker arms since. He realized to late that the valves were bottoming out on the guides. Currently he is still broke down.
