A good friend of mine drove his Model T to the shop this morning, do not let the photos fool you, motor number 816617
1915 Model T Ford couplet
do not let photos be the clicker
This was Edsel Fords personal car and was updated every year by Ford, everything is documented
here are some photos, Bob
look at the gas tank, special spindles, rare shocks
the spare tire is original, glass visor
everything is the way he got it from the museum years ago

An escutcheon like that one for the deck lid key hole would be a nice accessory for any T. The door handle trim looks good, too.

I first toured the Ford museum in 1955. The cars were not roped off and there were a hundred or so on display including Henry's and Edsel's personal cars. Les Henry was in charged and he took me back to see additional cars. The 1928 Model A Ford touring from the Edison estate was there and Less showed me the engine, which number 1.

Wow!!! The “Good Old Days” When EVERYONE naturally knew that you weren’t supposed to touch, climb on, sit on, or lean against the stuff in a museum and most people respected that enough that nothing had to be fenced off or behind glass.

Very interesting. I, like a lot of longtimers now, knew of the car, but had not seen much about it for many years. It is good to see that it is being well cared for.
It may not be a good example of a 1915 couplet, but it has a very special place in the history of automobiles. It should be carefully kept as close to how it last left Edsel's use as is reasonably possible. It should be driven some, and seen often. Special care so to not expose it to significant risks of damage, but not so much that it doesn't get used and seen.
This would be a car that Henry himself would have touched, and probably ridden in. Edsel himself was a very important part of automotive history! His "personal" car is very special.

Thank you for sharing this.

Awesome car.
Since Edsel updated the car I wonder if the brass sidelights were added on by someone at the museum.

That’s probably the original paint that’s still on the car. If it is the original paint would it be wise to put some type of wax on it? Or would that even be considered.

John Regan and I saw that car and the 1909 touring that lives in the same garage a few years ago, both are very interesting cars!
