Centerdoor dash question

I brought home a 19 centerdoor earlier this year. Being a 19 it is a starter car. The metal instrument panel is attached to a wood panel behind it. There are holes in the wooden panel, for I assume a steering column bracket, but no holes in the metal panel. There are no signs that a steering column bracket was ever present. Does anyone know if these early starter cars had a steering column bracket? The panel is notched out for the column to rest in but, it does not appear the column was ever attached to the instrument panel. Very odd

Stephen,
Our late '19 - early '20 Center door had/has a steering column brace/bracket. It does not have the original dash in it so I do not know the 100% correct answer to your question. I am planning on keeping the bracket as I think it will give good support to the steering column. I will have to do some research on the dash to ensure I have something close to original.
Good Luck,
Terry

Here’s my ‘19 centerdoor dash. Hope this helps. I might have another metal dash hanging up. Email me if you need it. I’ll look tomorrow...forgive the dangling horn button. I lost the top-of-column sheet metal cover.

My 22 was missing that piece, so I made one as I could see the paint outline of the original

Thank you for your replies. Looks like I need to find the bracket for my car.
